Minutes of Meeting on Tuesday, January 07, 2014

Prior to the meeting, the Board had a walkthrough of the properties of Hight Construction,
#21 2nd ST NE at 9:15 am, and Pam Karpenko’s Mainstream Boutique, #2 Main St S at 9:30
am.
The meeting began at 10:00 am. Chairman Walker notified the Renaissance Zone Review
Board that he will be stepping down from the Board and as Chairman.
Nate Ziegler, representing Hight Construction, explained the proposed renovation of Hight
Construction’s operations. The building is approximately 17,000SF with a south facing
façade and overhead doors facing east. The existing overhead doors will remain for
equipment access. The renovations will include a new updated building façade and new
office space. The motion was made by Denise Lindbo to approve the request, including
improvements, excluding land, and a 5-year business investment income tax exemption for
the building at #21 2nd ST NE. The motion was seconded by Brandyn Hendrickson, motion
carried unanimously.
Pam Karpenko explained her buying into the MainStream Boutique franchise which is
based out of Apple Valley, MN with 32 stores nationwide with complete control ordering
inventory. The store opening is tentatively the last part of January, 2014, pending approval
at next week’s City Council meeting. Kerry made a motion to grant approval for the state
income tax exemption for a lease in the building located at #2 Main St S. The motion was
seconded by Pete, motion carried with Lindbo abstaining.
Denise Lindbo nominated Pete Hugret to be appointed new Chairman; Chad Vogel
seconded the nomination, nomination carried unanimously.
It was suggested to the City Planner to check with Vicky @ Builders Association to see if
anyone might be interested in serving on the Renaissance Zone Review Board.
The minutes of the previous meeting were approved unanimously.
Meeting adjourned at 10:30 am.
