Renaissance Zone Board Meeting Meeting Minutes for August 19, 2021 @ 8:30am. Public Works Building 1025 31st Street SE. Members Present: Pete Hugret (Chair), Pat Bailey (Vice-Chair), Jason Bentley, Betty Fedorchak, Justin Anderson, Josh Wolsky Members Absent: Kerry Candrian, Justin Anderson, Michael King, Jen Cook Others Present: Jonathan Rosenthal (Economic Development Administrator), Brian Billingsley (Community & Economic Development Director), Glenda Sorensen (Admin) Call to Order: Pete Hugret called the meeting to order at 8:35 am. Agenda: North Dakota Open Meetings Act Training Transmission of Request from Grand Hotel for their block to be added to the Renaissance Zone Review of 2021 Renaissance Zone Development Plan – FINAL DRAFT Façade Improvement Program Training _____________________________________________________________________ Adopt Meeting Minutes Motion by Bailey to approve the July 22, 2021 meeting minutes, second by Fedorchak. ayes: all, nays: none. Motion passes North Dakota Open Meetings Act Training Billingsley gave a short presentation of the training material and emphasized which areas apply to, and need to be followed by, the Renaissance Zone committee. Transmission of Request from Grand Hotel for their block to be added to the Renaissance Zone. It was determined that additional information was needed from the applicant and Billingsley asked for a motion to be table the item until the additional information can be gathered. Motion by Fedorchak to table the item until more information can be presented, second by Bailey. ayes: all, nays: none Motion passes Façade Improvement Program Training Rosenthal walked the committee through a PowerPoint presentation on the Façade Improvement Program. The presentation clarified the program and its goals. Rosenthal presented original photos of some of the buildings and noted what improvements would potentially be needed to restore the structure to the original theme of the period in which the buildings were constructed. There is $945,000 in the account. The maximum for any single façade improvement project is $100,000. The entire façade must be completed, not just a portion of it. Review of 2021 Renaissance Zone Development Plan – FINAL DRAFT. Time did not allow this item to be presented. Billingsley suggested that two meetings be scheduled in September to discuss the following topics:  Renaissance Zone Development Plan  Discussion of submitted applications and continue the discussion on Façade Improvement. Motion by Bailey to set September meeting dates, second by Hugret. ayes: all nays: none Motion passes Billingsley will schedule the meetings as follows:  September 09, 2021 – Renaissance Zone Development Plan – Public Works Building   September 23, 2021 – Discussion of submitted applications and continue Façade Improvement discussion – Public Works Building Motion by Fedorchak to adjourn the meeting, second by Bentley. ayes: all, nays: none Motion passes Meeting adjourned the meeting at 10:20 am.
