1. May 23, 2011
Motion made by Wojtkowski to approved the minutes, seconded by Schneider. Motion
approved.

2. Museum and Cultural Arts Division Activity Report May 1 - 31, 2011
Copeland added that the Colton Hall Museum guest register's written comments
reflect on the outstanding job of Colton Hall Museum Attendants Da Vigo and
Lanzman. Surveys are conducted at both the Colton Hall and Presidio of Monterey
Museums to find out how visitors hear about the museums. Directional signs have had
an increase on attendance at POM Museum. Wojtkowski suggested placing Colton Hall
and POM Museum brochures at Casa Serrano.

3. Receive Report on Fiscal Year 2011/2012 Budget Process
Wojtkowski asked if the museum has a back-up plan in case of budget cuts.
4. Receive Report from Ad-Hoc Strategic Planning Subcommittee
The subcommittee is going forward with getting the strategic plan completed as soon as
possible after August 11. Wojtkowski asked what will be on the agenda for the August 11
meeting, and he has copies of reviews from Karen Csejtey.
5. Receive Report on "Art in the Adobes"
Copeland, Rodriguez, and Wojtkowski attended a meeting for the "Art in the Adobes"
(AIA) event. Approximately $19,400.00 has been collected with a goal of $30,000.00. 501
(c) (3) status for The Old Monterey Foundation is pending. A fundraising dinner will be on
August 4. Other venues for AIA include Casa Serrano, Colton Hall, City Hall, Monterey
Museum of Art. On June 23 there was a volunteer planning meeting. Copeland asked
Commissioners if they could be Team Captains at each facility during the event.
Rodriguez encouraged 100% from Commissioners and to be team captains, and training
will be on September 15. Colton Hall will be staffed with Da Vigo and Lanzman and
volunteers. Staff is conducting research on costs of giclees of some artwork and will
provide report to Commission.
New Business
6. Approve Expenditure of Art Acquisition Funds for Art Conservation
Motion by Greenwald, second by Dias, motion approved.
Greenwald suggested that the David Ligare painting at the Monterey Conference
Center may be deteriorating due to sun exposure and would need attention.
7. Approve Submission of Doud Fund Grant from the Community Foundation for Monterey
County for Colton Hall Historic Structure Report
Motion by Greenwald. Second by Wojtkowski. Motion carried.

Greenwald - Edward Westin Show at Monterey Museum of Art equal to Ansel Adams.
Schneider - concerned about absent Commissioner.
Rodriguez - About three meeting ago, the music fundraising committee was talking about
a fundraiser. Request a music fundraising report for July agenda. It was a privilege to
