Motion by Dias to accept the minutes. Second by Greenwald and motion carried.

2. Museum and Cultural Arts Division Activity Report June 1- 30, 2011
Rodriguez asked if help was need for History Fest, and Copeland will work with
Rodriguez with more details for venues and events. About 40 pieces of art from the City's
Art Collection have been selected for Art in the Adobes. The City Council Chambers
(Few Memorial Hall) will serve as a lecture hall and art venue during the event. The City
Council also approved funding for art conservation for some of the artwork.

3. Approve Expenditure of Museum Trust Funds for Jim Conway Memorial Bench
Motion by Greenwald to approve expenditure of Museum Trust Funds for the memorial
bench. Second by Dias and motion carried.

4. Receive Report on Visitor Surveys on How Visitors Receive Information about Colton
Hall Museum and Presidio of Monterey Museum
A question was raised since Cannery Row receives a great deal of tourist traffic, how can
visitors be redirected to downtown Monterey.
5. Approval of Staff Recommendation for Baumer String Quartet Use of Colton Hall in June
2012
Motion by Greenwald to approve staff recommendation for Baumer String Quartet use of
Colton Hall in June 2012. Second by Schneider and motion carried.
COMMISSIONER COMMENTS
Rodriguez - No Commission meeting in August since there will be a Strategic Planning
Retreat on August 11 at 2 pm. Topics for Mayor's meeting: thanks for the new Presidio
Museum directional signs; Art in the Adobes; the memorial bench for Jim
Conway; Alvarado Gallery continues to showcase art exhibits.

There will be no August 22 meeting.
