MINUTES PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION Regular Meeting Thursday, June 20, 2013 4:30 PM COUNCIL CHAMBER, FEW MEMORIAL HALL OF RECORDS MONTEREY, CALIFORNIA Commissioners Present: Baldwin, Canepa, Marotta, McEwen, Menendez-Herbst, Perske Commissioners Absent: McCarthy Staff Members Present: Community Services and Library Director Kim Bui-Burton, Park Operations Manager Louie Marcuzzo, Recording Secretary Teresa Nash Public Present: Sharon Dwight CALL TO ORDER PUBLIC COMMENTS None. FIELD TRIP 1. Tour of Park Facilities for June 2013 Action: The Commission toured parks and facilities with current or upcoming projects. The Parks and Recreation Commission visited the following sites:  Hilltop Park  San Carlos Beach Park  Scholze Park  Monterey Sports Center  Dennis the Menace Park  Sollecito Ball Park  El Estero Picnic Area  Monterey Bay Park  Del Monte Beach  Ferrante Park  Laguna Grande Park  Casanova Oak Knoll Park  Deer Flats Park  Via Paraiso Park  Don Dahvee Greenbelt The Commission returned to the Recreation Administration office at 546 Dutra Street, Monterey, California at 7:00 p.m. Parks and Recreation Commission Minutes Thursday, June 20, 2013 INFORMATIONAL REPORTS & STAFF COMMENTS 2. 4th of July Celebration 2013 Action: Report received. 3. Monthly Report - Parks Division - May 2013 Action: Report received. Tour of Park Facilities for June 2013 CALL TO ORDER ROLL CALL CONSENT ITEMS CONSENT ITEMS allow for a review of those items recommended for approval on consent or recommended to be continued, tabled or withdrawn, etc. Consent items consist of those items which are routine and for which a staff recommendation has been prepared. A member of the public or a Commissioner may request that an item recommended for approval on consent be heard on the regular agenda for further discussion. ***End of Consent Agenda*** PUBLIC COMMENTS PUBLIC COMMENTS allows you, the public, to speak for a maximum of three minutes on any subject which is within the jurisdiction of the Monterey Parks and Recreation Commission and which is not on the agenda. Any person or group desiring to bring an item to the attention of the Commission may do so during Public Comments or by addressing a letter of explanation to: Recreation and Community Services Director, 546 Dutra Street, Monterey CA 93940. The appropriate staff person will contact the sender concerning the details. INFORMATIONAL REPORTS & STAFF COMMENTS INFORMATIONAL REPORTS & STAFF COMMENTS supply the Commission with written or oral information that they may wish to discuss or take action by placing the item on a future agenda. 2. 4th of July Celebration 2013 3. Monthly Report - Parks Division - May 2013 COMMISSIONER COMMENTS COMMISSIONERS may ask a question for clarification, make a brief announcement or make a brief report on his or her activities. In addition, a Commissioner may provide a referral to staff or other resources for factual information, request staff to report back to the body at a subsequent meeting concerning any City matter, or direct staff to place a request to agendize a matter of business on a future agenda.
