PARKS, ARTS & RECREATION COMMISSION MEETING
THURSDAY
DECEMBER 2, 2021 - 8:00 A.M.
ACADEMY ROOM – CITY HALL

Members Present: Lynn Anderson, Julie Jelen, Janine Kopff, Adam Leiferman,
Nancy McCaffrey, Sam Murdoff

1. General Business
A. Call to Order
Vice-Chair Anderson called the meeting to order at 8:01 a.m.
B. Approval of Agenda
NANCY MCCAFFREY MOVED TO APPROVE THE AGENDA. MOTION SECONDED
BY ADAM LEIFERMAN. MOTION CARRIED, 6-0.
C. Approval of Meeting Minutes
Regular Meeting Minutes from September 23, 2021
JULIE JELEN MOVED TO APPROVE THE REGULAR MEETING MINUTES
FROM JULY SEPTEMBER 23, 2021. MOTION SECONDED BY NANCY
MCCCAFFREY. MOTION CARRIED, 6-0.
Special Meeting Minutes from October 13, 2021
JULIE JELEN MOVED TO APPROVE THE SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES
FROM JULY OCTOBER 13, 2021. MOTION SECONDED BY NANCY
MCCCAFFREY. MOTION CARRIED, 6-0.
D. Citizen’s requests and comments
Skate Park: Resident Kris Cullen spoke on behalf of the skate park.
E. Commission Liaison Updates
Bertram Advisory Council: Lynn Anderson provided an update.

2. Regular Agenda
A. Consideration of a recommendation for 3-year Commission Renewals for
Commissioners Brian Stoll and Janine Kopff to serve from 1/2022 thru 12/2025.
NANCY MCCAFFREY MOVED TO RECOMMEND 3-YEAR APPOINTMENT
RENEWALS FOR COMMISSIONER STOLL AND COMMISSIONER KOPFF.
MOTION SECONED BY ADAM LEIFERMAN. MOTION CARRIED, 6-0.
B. Consideration of a recommendation for 1-year Commission Renewal for Lynn
Anderson to serve on the Bertram Chain of Lakes Advisory Council as the PARC
representative for 2022.
NANCY MCCAFFREY MOVED TO RECOMMEND 1-YEAR APPOINTMENT
RENEWAL FOR COMMISSIONER ANDERSON TO SERVE AS THE PARC
REPRESENTATIVE ON THE BERTRAM CHAIN OF LAKES ADVISORY COUNCIL.
MOTION SECONDED BY JULIE JELEN. MOTION CARRIED, 6-0.
C. Consideration of a recommendation to appoint a commissioner to The Pointes
Zoning Review Group.
NANCY MCCAFFREY MOVED TO RECOMMEND APPOINTMENT OF
COMMISSIONER JELEN TO SERVCE ON THE POINTES ZONING REVIEW
GROUP. MOTION SECONDED BY ADAM LEIFERMAN. MOTION CARRIED, 6-0.
D. Consideration of a recommendation to appoint a commissioner to the
Compass Group (The Pointes Advisory Group).
JULIE JELEN MOVED TO RECOMMEND THE APPOINTMENT OF
COMMISSIONER LEIFERMAN TO SERVE ON THE COMPASS GROUP (THE
POINTS ADVISORY GROUP). MOTION SECONDED BY NANCY MCCAFFREY.
MOTION CARRIED, 6-0.
E. Discussion of future Bertram Athletic Complex Infrastructure Plans.
Tom Pawelk discussed the future improvements at the park and the possible
application for an Outdoor Rec Grant. Further details will be brought to the
next meeting.
3. Updates
A. MontiArts Update. Updated provided by Sue Seeger and included in the
agenda packet.
B. MCC Operations Update. Update provided by Sara Cahill and Tricia Handorff
and included in the agenda packet.
C. General Park Updates. Tom Pawelk provided general park updates.

4. Discussion of added items.
A. Skate Park: A Skate Park Committee is being put together. Brian Stoll may
serve as the PARC rep on the committee.
B. Holiday Decoration Committee: The city-wide holiday decorations, including
decorations along the corridor streetlight poles will transition from the Street
Department to the Parks, Arts & Recreation Department. Tom Pawelk asked
for volunteers to serve on a Holiday Decorations Committee as it is time to
replace the old décor. Sue Seeger and Janine Kopf volunteered serve on the
committee.

SECONDED BY ADAM LEIFERMAN. MOTION CARRIED, 6-0.
