Meeting Minutes of the Montpelier Conservation Commission November 14, 2013 Attendees: Susan Beem of MHS, Hannah Reckow of Montpelier Planning Department (VISTA), Enya Hughes of MHS, Michelle Hughes of public, Alex Prolman of Montpelier Planning Department (AmeriCorps), Matt MacLean of MHS, Karen Freeman, Geoff Beyer, Mahima Poreddy, Shawn White, John Fox, Ben Eastwood, Roy Schiff  Review and approve November minutes.  Conservation survey presentation o Voter list used for sample (out of date) o 2000 surveys sent, 337 returned (17%) o May want to consider face-to-face survey next time o Some results  Buffer Berlin Pond important to protect drinking water o Commissioners to think of ways to present data effectively  Rock blasting (project now complete) o Request plan for revegetation o Meet with state if time o Objectives of MCC  No chain link fence  No shotcrete  Maintain aesthetically pleasing entrance to city  Naturalistic finish  Plantings  Restore trails on top of rock o Projects like this should have MCC input in design phase  Two Rivers Center o Changing hands and needs buyer o There is a conservation easement on the land and an historic preservation easement on the house o Garden park suggested as a future use to consider o 20 acres  Carr Lot o Shawn to contact committee and attend meetings o 50/50 open space/parking o River access o Bike path o Relation to pedestrian bridge o Review plans  Planning Department o Commission agreed speak on behalf of Gwen for her positive work during the Envision process, zoning amendments. A letter was to be written. (In the end a meeting was held with the City to transmit this message.) 1  SUMMARY OF TASKS o All: Review minutes.
