Montpelier Senior Activity Center Advisory Board Meeting September 25, 2013 City Hall Conference Room Draft Minutes Present: Janna Clar, Tina Muncy, Fran Krushenick, Peter Harris, Jane Osgatharp, Liz Dodge, Janet Ressler, Sylvia Kingsbury Absent: Sue Stukey, Frank Woods The meeting was called to order by Chair, Tina Muncy, at 1:40PM. The minutes of the August 21 meeting were accepted as written. Old Business: a. Board sharing of member comments: 1.Fran said that at Tuesday lunch some- one complained of feeling unwelcome. 2. Suggestion for background music during lunch. 3. There were positive comments regarding the band. 4. Some members want twelve weeks for all classes. 5. There were positive comments regarding trips. 6. Need for partitions in Community Room. b. Fall registration and Facility updates: There are more than 570 class registrations. About 600 new and renewed memberships. Several classes are full and a few are at risk. Automatic doors have been installed and a keypad on the side door. We have a person training to assist with kitchen cleaning and maintenance through Vt Assn for Training and Development. c. Home Tour: Tina and Jane plan to sell tickets at Farmers' Market on Saturday. d. FEAST benefit dinner Oct. 18: To be a fundraiser, open house and silent auction. Tickets are $50 and cash bar. Dinner at 6:00 and ends at 8:30. New Business: a. Financial planning for future budgets: Tina called for a meeting on Thursday Oct. 24 at 2:00 to look at last year's budget. In next year's budget may allow for 12-week classes and increase in instructors' pay. Condo fees may be adjusted. We support the meals program but that doesn't break even. Donations higher than expected. Wish list: Use the van more, possibly transport for lunches, private area for relaxing, noise dampening room dividers in Community Room and sound dampening in Activity Room. b. Supporting town funding and petitioning: We will try to add Plainfield. We will be asking for an increase of $17,000 from supporting towns, based upon $100/per person (up from $50 last year). We will need help collecting signatures. c. Thanksgiving Lunch/ Volunteer recognition: Date not set – possibly week before Thanksgiving. d. Holiday Bazaar – Sat. Dec. 14 from 9:00 to 4:00 Need donations of good used items. Vendors can rent tables. Food tables. Need coordinator. Additional: None. The meeting was adjourned at 3:45PM.
