MONTPELIER RECREATION DEPARTMENT’S ADVISORY  BOARD  MEETING   September  24,  2014     Attending  Board  Members:    Aubrey  Boyles,  Andrea  Talentino,  Karlynn  Koeneman,  Buzz  Surwillo,  and   Ena  Backus.   Absent  Board  Members:    Tom  Golonka  (City  Council),  Susan  Aldrich  (School  Board).   Attending  Rec.  Department:    Arne  McMullen,  Director.     Guest  Presenter:    John  Hemmelgarn.   Call  to  order:    6:05  p.m.       Questions  for  John  from  Black  River  Design.   Can  the  lift  be  updated  later?   Yes,  but  a  new  shaft  would  be  needed  to  add  an  elevator.    A  LULA  lift  would  only  work  basement  to  first   floor  only.     Can  we  reverse  ramp  and  enter  through  the  office  or  game  room?    That  could  be  a  possibility.    It  would   have  people  enter  closer  to  the  front  of  the  building.       Sample  ramps  to  look  at.    VCIL  and  the  ramp  on  the  back  of  the  St.  Augustine’s  Church.     If  you  go  with  a  ramp  some  possible  materials  to  build  with  are  pressure  treated  material  or  the  trex   material.       The  ramp  would  need  to  be  between  36  and  42  inches  with  5  foot  landings  where  needed.    Follow  ADA   requirements.    John  was  also  looking  for  some  ideas  for  the  roof  of  the  ramp  using  different  types  of   materials.       Time  to  do  ADA  improvements:    Estimated  time  is  about  a  Month.       John  is  going  to  do  a  couple  of  sketches  and  a  plan  with  these  new  ideas  for  our  next  board  meeting  on   Oct.  15.       The  Rec.  Board  is  in  favor  of  the  ramp  proposal  and  the  family  bathroom  and  are  going  to  go  over   further  updates  in  the  next  meeting.       Our  Oct.  8  board  meeting  has  been  moved  to  Oct.  15  at  5:15  p.m.      This  meeting  will  be  at  the   Recreation  Department.           The  Recreation  Board  Budget  Meetings  will  be  on  Oct.  13  and  Oct.  20  at  5:15  p.m.  in  Room  106  at   Montpelier  High  School.   Meeting  Adjourned:    7:10  p.m.
