trees

bring
awareness

the
borer.
80%
of
ash
borer
is
spread
by
moving
firewood
from
state
to
state;
The
Tree
Board
does
not
advocate
removing
ash
trees
as
a
pre-‐emptive
measure;
River
Planting:
The
Waterwheel
Foundation
as
part
of
hurricane
Irene
restoration
$
has
given
us
access
to
many
trees
(30,000)
for
river
side
planting.
American
elm,
box
elder,
dogwood,
grey
birch,
cottonwood,
green
ash,
and
silver
maple.
Trees
are
in
cold
storage
now
but
need
to
be
planted
in
May.
Trees
are
barefooted.
Summer
Youth
Program
Grant
Geoff
reported
that
he
has
youths
coming
for
12
weeks
in
two
6
week
periods.
They
will
be
planting
24
trees,
barefooted
from
the
American
Forest
Grant
.
Tree
board
needs
to
determine
in
3-‐4
weeks
the
sites
where
these
trees
will
be
planted.
If
we
run
short
on
time
we
can
plant
them
in
the
nursery.
