Ordinance No. 2024-____ AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING COMPENSATION FOR MEMBERS OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MORGANTOWN The City of Morgantown hereby ordains as follows: Sec. 1. Compensation of Members of Council. As of the Effective Date specified in this Ordinance, each member of the Common Council of the City shall be paid the sum of Three Hundred Fifty Dollars and Zero Cents ($350.00) for each regular meeting of the Council the member attends. Sec. 2. Compensation of Mayor. As of the Effective Date specified in this Ordinance, the Mayor of the City shall be paid the sum of Four Hundred Fifty Dollars and Zero Cents ($450.00) for each regular meeting of the Council the Mayor attends. Sec. 3. Effective Date; Supercession of Prior Enactments. This Ordinance shall become effective as of July 1, 2027. This Ordinance, when effective, repeals and supersedes any prior enactments of the City Council respecting the subject matter hereof, including without limitation Ordinance No. 2005-32, which previously set the compensation of each member of Council and the Mayor. Ordinance No. 2024-____ AN ORDINANCE NAMING “MUNDY’S ALLEY” The City of Morgantown hereby ordains, in accordance with Section 905.01, that the public street or alley currently designated as an unnamed alley extending from Mississippi Street to Lawnwood Street and bounded by Elysian Avenue and Madigan Avenue in the First Ward of The City of Morgantown, shall hereafter be named and designated “Mundy’s Alley,” and the City’s Addressing and Mapping Coordinator is authorized and directed to take all necessary actions and execute all necessary documents to update the official plat, map, or maps of the City designating the names of the public streets and to notify any and all other public entities and agencies required to know of such naming of the street described herein, including by taking all steps necessary to comply with the Statewide Addressing and Mapping law codified at Chapter 24E of the West Virginia Code. This ordinance shall be effective upon adoption. Ordinance No. 2024-___ AN ORDINANCE ANNEXING PROPERTY OF BRUCETON FARM SERVICE, INC. INTO THE CORPORATE BOUNDARIES OF THE CITY OF MORGANTOWN WHEREAS, West Virginia Code section 8-6-4 permits a municipality to order annexation of additional territory by ordinance without a vote if a majority of freeholders and qualified voters petition for such annexation; and WHEREAS, all freeholders and qualified voters in the territory subject of the attached “Petition for Annexation,” which is incorporated into this Ordinance by reference, have petitioned for annexation; and WHEREAS, the City has enumerated and verified the total number of eligible petitioners and is satisfied that the petition is sufficient in every respect and that the territory to be annexed is contiguous to the current municipal boundaries; NOW, THEREFORE, the City of Morgantown hereby ordains as follows: (1) That the territory described in the Petition for Annexation, being a part of a parcel to be designated Parcel 40 of Tax Map Number 45 in Sixth Ward District, Monongalia County, West Virginia, specifically the portion of such parcel currently outside the corporate boundary of the City of Morgantown as shown in the Petition for Annexation, or the property comprising such area currently or formerly assessed as such identified parcel, as more fully described in the Petition for Annexation and exhibit thereto, shall be annexed into the City of Morgantown; (2) That the City Clerk is directed to enter upon the journal of the City the finding that the Petition for Annexation is sufficient in every respect and forward a certificate to that effect to the County Commission of Monongalia County, West Virginia, pursuant to W. Va. Code § 8-6-4(g), notifying the Commission that it shall enter an order as described in W. Va. Code § 8-6-3 describing the annexation of the additional territory to the corporate limits of the City of Morgantown. This ordinance is effective upon adoption; provided that the annexation of the territory to the corporate limits of the City of Morgantown shall take effect on the date to be designated in an Order of the Monongalia County Commission entering the annexation in the official records of Monongalia County, which will be designated to coincide with the beginning of a fiscal quarter. Resolution No. _______ A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING FUNDING FOR MOUNTAIN LINE TRANSIT AUTHORITY BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Morgantown, that the City of Morgantown (“City”) is a partner organization of the Mountain Line Transit Authority (“MLTA”), which provides essential public transit service for the community, including regular daily service between Hazel’s House of Hope at 20 Scott Avenue, which houses essential social service organizations serving the City, and other parts of the City, and that the City Manager is authorized and directed to do the following: 1. Establish terms of an agreement with MLTA to provide City funding for MLTA’s Route 50 / Don Knotts Route, for the time period July 1, 2024 through December 31, 2024, in an amount not to exceed $33,000.00; and 2.
