MUB Board Meeting-Phase I Flood Mitigation Study. Thursday, Nov. 10, 5:30, Christian Missionary
Alliance church, 308 Elmhurst St.
Hey all,
Attached are a copy of the minutes for our last meeting. I won't be able to attend the
meeting tomorrow because I'll be travelling for work.
I'm beginning work on our Transportation chapter of the SMP. I attended a trails related
conference in Glade Springs last month and was able to speak with
several stakeholders in the trails world. The first thing I would like to do is outline areas
of concern in this chapter and then identify one area of concern to propose a
sustainable alternative to.
Areas of concern will be areas where collisions occur frequently, streets that, if
improved, would connect large trails networks, streets where vehicle traffic can be
reduced and pedestrian traffic could be increased. I'm thinking about places like Green
Bag Road where opportunities to connect trails exist, Don Knotts Blvd. into Beechurst
Ave. where streets are congested and unfriendly toward pedestrian crossing, Van
Voorhis Rd. where there is tons of residential housing and no sidewalks, and so on.
Below I've attached a copy of the MMMPO draft plan that I have been re-reviewing
If someone could please record the meeting for me or send me a copy of your notes for
the meeting, that would be very much appreciated!
