Health and Wellness Meeting
Thursday December 13, 2018
City Hall-Council Chambers at 7:30pm
PRESENT: Dan Shook, Colleen Harshbarger, Ryan Wallace, Christine Wallace, David Loomis, Meghan
Kline, Abigail Riggs, and Andrew Stacy.
Absent: Patrick Hathaway
The meeting was called to order at 7:35 pm.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
Minutes from 11/3/18 were approved.
PUBLIC PORTION: N/A
UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
A. Blue Zones
a. Blue Zones presented to the School Board
b. Benendum Foundation very supportive after meeting with Blue Zones
c. Your Community Foundation meeting happened, they are supportive of Blue Zones
d. Huntington Bank expressed interest in supporting Blue Zones Project
B. WV Center for Budget and Policy
a. Kelly Allen requested that HWC table the proposal from WVCB&P for paid sick leave
until March.
C. New Commissioner
a. Waiting on City Council to interview new member
b. Ryan to ask City Council to establish a specific date for interviews to be conducted
NEW BUSINESS:
A. Met with Andrew Stacy regarding web design
a. Andrew can help with layout and building of website
b. Ryan to contact a graphic designer she knows to assist with a logo
c. Contact Human Rights Commission and find out who helped with their logo
d. Discussed goal of the website, adding user friendly “calculators” related to health, and other
marketing strategies
e. Colleen will complete budget request for maintenance of website
f. Working groups established: Dan and David-Data and Platform, Christine and Abigail-
Event Calendar, Colleen and Meghan-overall website, Ryan - logo
B. Discussion of Transportation barriers in Mon County
a. Meghan working closely with Kelli LaNeve of Mountain Line Transit to aid wheelchair
utilizers in obtaining transportation to appointments.
b. There are limited handicapped accessible vehicles
c. Recommended that Kelli attend Legislative Council meeting and City Council meeting on
12/18/18.
