AGENDA HEALTH & WELLNESS COMMISSION Present: Alexandria, Jennie Smith-Peers, Ronanie Aberyatne, Kimberly Kelly Guests; Jill Pe ODCP Coordinator and Parker Sievert January 12, 2023 7:00-8:30 pm Mission Statement The Health and Wellness Commission strives to advance a culture of well-being and vibrant quality of life in Morgantown, West Virginia. Vision Statement Morgantown is a place where West Virginians work together to achieve optimal well-being for all. 1. CALL TO ORDER 7:00 PM and introductions 2. APPROVE MINUTES: November 12, 2023 minutes- hold off on the minutes as Sabina is out of town 3. REPORT ON CITY COUNCIL DISCUSSIONS 4. COMMITTEE MEMBER REPORTS ON CURRENT EVENTS - Menstrual product drive at the Morgantown Art Bar - Folks are concerned that there are not too many indoor events - non-perishable food donations at 123 Plesant st 5. FOLLOW-UP ITEMS: A. Events - More community outreach - wanting to do the farmer's market- should we do this - We should partner with other community groups on issues  B. Survey - Thinking of presenting to the city council C. Policy from the state legislature - GAHT restrictions - CARES Act- Opioid settlement money going toward prevention and addiction services - We should meet with the city council and the city manager to let them know what we think the money should be spent on - What is our wishlist, what would help us carry on- a list of priorities - Maybe we can reach out to different groups and see if we can offer them support with D. Physical Activity E. Mental Health F. Food Insecurity G. Substance Abuse/Misuse (smoking, opioids) H. Grants 6.
