Historic Landmarks Commission

MORGANTOWN HISTORIC LANDMARKS COMMISSION February 21, 2018 The meeting was called to order at 7:08 pm in the Public Safety Building. Present: Shannon Tinnell, Jeanne Grimm, Bill Kawecki and Kathy Hanko Minutes for November and December were approved. The City Council is advertising the open position on the Commission. There is one application so far. Plans are progressing for the 6th Annual roundtable scheduled for March 7th 6 pm at the Aull House. This will take the place of the March Commission meeting. Kathy will check to see that the City has been notified. Bill will check to see that publicity has been handled. Old business: Cemetery Workshop, Chancery Hill Grant and Sabraton Survey Grant are still pending. We’re waiting for approval. Work on the Deckers Creek Pedestrian Bridge is ongoing. Phase II Stone Wall Project is ongoing. There will be a draft report at the Roundtable. We’re are still waiting for notification from the State regarding the historical marker for Indian Park. Kathy will check with the State regarding replacement of the 3 W historical marker that was damaged to see if they are willing to replace it. Repair of the South Walnut Street brick repair is still on hold until the City gets time to fix it. The budget request will be shared with City Council for the coming year by Mayor Kawecki. Work will continue on producing a brochure for Commission publicity. Jeanne made us aware of the Preservation Alliance of WV training in August. Meeting adjourned. Submitted by Kathy Hanko
