MORGANTOWN HISTORIC LANDMARKS COMMISSION
June 20, 2017
The meeting was called to order at the Public Safety Building by Shannon Tinnell at 7:05.
Present: Jeanne Grimm, Shannon Tinnell, Bill Kawecki, Jessica Eichlin and Courtney Zimmerman of
Aurora Consultations.

NEW BUSINESS:
Missing minutes and agendas:The city has misplaced the minutes and agendas sent to them.
CLG Training: Training os available Sept 20-22 in Parkersburg at the WV Preservation Alliance
Conference. Jessica needs the training and is going to try and make it. She is going to put a travel
request in to the city.
MHLC Facebook Page: Jessica Eichlin brought a proposal for starting a Facebook page for the MHLC.
Eichlin and Tinnell will work on it together on the content. Eichlin will contact City of Morgantown PR
Person, Andrew Stacey about the page. Jessica will be the administrator.
MHLC Roundtable- Will be held in March 2019 and focus on genealogy.
OLD BUSINESS: Having trouble getting Jonathan Appeal to sign contract for the Cemetery Workshop
grant. It will take place in September 2018 and will focus on raising, cleaning and repair of broken
headstones in Oak Grove Cemetery.
Chancery Hill Grant: Christy Veham and Jeannie Grimm are working on it. Due to getting the grant in the
second round of funding there is little time to resurvey. Tinnell and Grimm will help will some of the HPI
forms in order to get the grant done in time.
Deckers Creek Pedestrian Bridge: Bridge is finished and will be dedicated on July 6, 2018 at 11:00.
Warner Theater/Lower High Street: South High Street Development is no longer in the works. They had
trouble obtaining the land. The owners of the Warner may sell it independently.
Phase II Stone Wall Project: Completed and well done. Grimm is looking into a multi property grant for
them.
Indian Park: We are waiting for approval of the marker. BOPARC taking care of the grass mowing and
maintenance.
South Walnut Street Brick Repair: Tinnell sent a letter to City Manager, Paul Brake and will follow up.
Sabraton Survey Grant: Courtney Zimmerman attended the meeting and went over the plan to tackle
the survey. Deadline is July 31, 2019. Hoping to work with WVU students . Grimm and Tinnell will try
and meet the candidates interviewing for Jenny Boulware’s job.
