MORGANTOWN HISTORIC LANDMARKS COMMISSION March 17, 2021 The meeting was called to order at 7:03 pm using Zoom by Shannon Tinnell. Those participating were Shannon Tinnell, Bill Kawecki, and Jessica Eichlin. The minutes of the Feb meeting were approved. OLD BUSINESS: Oak Grove Cemetery ceremony and plaque - No news on either. The MHLC is waiting for Janet DeVault’s proposal. Kawecki, will contact the City of Morgantown and see if they can help fund the workshop once the proposal is submitted. The Multisite Designation Stone Walls Grant monthly report was sent by Tinnell to WV SHPO. The brochure pdf was submitted to Andrew Stacey for completion. Kawecki, will check in with Stacy about the current status of the brochures. Jessica adjusted the Facebook settings so the other members can add content. Talked about adding pictures from the demolition of the 200 block of Pleasant Street. The MHLC currently has two vacant seats that need to be filled. We need to find a way to recruit new members. New Business: 200 block of Pleasant Street - Kawecki took pictures of the block being razed by the owner. 341-345 Chestnut Street - the company that owns the property is determining whether it is to their advantage to knock down the structure known as the Scholar Hotel or can they renovate and expand it?
