November 30, 2022, HRC Meeting Attendees: Danny Trejo, Bonnie Brown, Keenan McClane, Ash Orr, Jena Martin ● Call to order: 6:41 Public Session: n/a ● Acceptance of November 2022 minutes moved to next meeting due to low attendance and some commissioners not receiving minutes ahead of meeting Communications Ash Orr ● Morgantown scored 100% on the Municipal Equality Index, noted that Huntington was only other city in WV to do so Danny Trejo ● No major updates Keenan McClane ● No major updates Bonnie Brown ● No major updates Priority Items ● MEI Award ○ Ash will speak with city council about HRC being recognized for work on MEI award ● HRC Award ○ A review of last month's nominations was discussed ○ After outreach to highschool groups, there was concern that they might not qualify ○ Ash brought up concern that Holler Health Justice is not based in Mon county ○ Some discussion of which organizations and individuals are most appropriate to offer the award to. Hollar Health Justice was called out as a good option, partly because it is grass roots ○ It was brought up that, for logistical reasons, having city council announce winners in December, but having actual ceremony on MLK day (as that also ties into related causes) might work better ○ Ash will contact city council about making a proclamation in their next meeting ○ Conclusion of event discussions was that it would be too difficult to arrange in time, and that December ceremonies could have been more successful if not during holiday season. ○ Daniel Walker was also mentioned as a possible recipient, but she has already received the award ○ Nominations  ■ Ash moves to nominate Ixia Vega, Bonnie seconds - accepted unanimously ■ Ash moves to nominate Hollar Health Justice, Danny seconds - accepted unanimously Adjournment ● Ash moves to conclude the meeting.
