WARD & BOUNDARY COMMISSION Work Session Meeting Thursday, July 22, 2020 Via Webex 11:00 a.m. To protect public health during COVID – 19 pandemic, personal attendance at the meeting was not permitted. When it was time, the public could participate by videoconference at the following link: https://cityofmorgantown.my.webex.com/meet/cityofmorgantown With meeting number (access code) 793 734 477, or by calling in at the following number 408-418-9388 and using the access code 793 734 477. All members of the public could view the meeting on Channel 15 and by streaming hosted on the City’s website at www.morgantownwv.gov. PRESENT: Via Webex City Clerk Christine Wade, GIS Analyst Marvin Davis, Chair Sarah Barnes, Commission Members Moira Reilly, Roy Nutter, Alice Meehan, and Don Spencer. Cindy O’Brien was having technical difficulties, so she was not present for some of the meeting. Councilor Kawecki, Chris Fletcher were present. The meeting was called to order by Chair Sarah Barnes at 11:06 a.m. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Motion by Alice Meehan, second by Chair Sarah Barnes, to approve the July 9, 2020, to approve the meeting minutes by consensus. NEW BUSINESS: None PUBLIC PORTION: Chair Sarah Barnes declared the Public Portion open. There being no appearances, Chair Sarah Barnes declared the Public Portion closed. A. Reviewing Redistricting Ward Boundaries Plan Work Session UNFINISHED BUSINESS: After reviewing all the maps given by Marvin Davis GIS Analyst, all commissioners decided the best map to work with is Map #4. The goal is to balance the numbers of population and registered voters. Once Cindy O’Brien meets with Marvin to go over the maps, she will get in touch with Commissioner Barnes with her opinion. GIS Analysts Marvin Davis will work on a few minor changes requested to bring forth at the next scheduled meeting. (See included Map #4 as Exhibit A) MISCELLANEOUS: A. Next scheduled meeting, time, date, and location The next scheduled meeting will be on, Wednesday, July 29, 2020, at 1:00 p.m. via Webex. The meeting will be broadcast live on Channel 15.
