Woodburn Commission

Woodburn School Redevelopment Commission Minutes of Thursday September 26, 2017 Members present: Chris Haddox, Kevin Cross, Kerry Lilly, Evan Fedorko, Mary Angel Blount, Marti Shamberger. Guests Greg and Lindsay Estep of Littlefish Design. The meeting was called to order by Chris Haddox at 6:04 p.m. There were no minutes of the previous meeting to approve. Chris introduced Greg and Lindsay Estep of Littlefish Designs a graphic design company. The Estep’s had visited the Woodburn property and shared ideas on branding, website design, and marketing strategies to consider using for the Woodburn properties. The Estep’s also shared their website information, so the Commissioners could view other client’s websites that they have developed. The Commission agreed to get back in touch with Greg and Lindsay. Evan Fedorko was thanked for his efforts coordinating the removal of the steps down to the playground. Discussion was held about the building assessment that was provided from the city engineer. It was not clear if the modular and shell building was included in the assessment by the Mills group. Frustration with communication from the City was expressed concerning the new steps down to the playground, it was the recommendation from the Commission to have a trail trans versing the hillside not having the steps replaced. Also concerns were expressed about the building maintenance, i.e. leaking roof in the main school building and its effects on the tenans. Chris was going contact City Administration for answers to the Commissioners concerns. October 31, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. the Commission will be on the Committee of the Whole agenda with an update from the Woodburn Commission. Commissioners, and tenants of the Woodburn property are being asked to attend. Marti shared that the trees that were taken down at Woodburn will be replaced according to Marchetta Maupin, City Urban Landscape Manager. The trees will be replaced after the paving of the parking lots which is slated for next year. It looks like next fall will be the time of the tree planting and any other plantings that the WRDC would want to do. She suggested that a plan be submitted of what we would want to plant along the Charles Avenue area. Mary Angel and Marti will work on a plan. The next meeting will be October 26 at 6:00 p.m. at Crosley’s. COW presentation October 31, 2017 7:00 p.m. The meeting was adjourned at 6:50p.m.
