Woodburn Commission

Woodburn School Redevelopment Commission Minutes of Thursday June 27, 2019 Members present: John Trumble, Marti Shamberger, Ron Dulaney, Kate Levine-Freeman The meeting was called to order by John Trumble at 6:09 p.m. at Woodburn School. Guests: Danielle Trumble from WAN and Friends of Woodburn group. The minutes of the May meeting were reviewed and approved as presented. Members continued to discuss having a tenant of the building serve on the Commission. It was agreed that the Commission should ask the tenants if there was an interest in serving before pursuing changing the bylaws. In the interim, it was agreed that Commission members rotate serving as a liaison from the commission to the tenants. John agreed to be the liaison for July. John attended the walk through of the Pop Shop area with Chris Fletcher, Damian Davis and Chris Russell from the Pop Shop. The group identified issues room by room. They noted that the plaster should be tested for lead. The electric boxes are working and the extension cords were gone. Chris Fletcher was to get back the next day with notes from the walk thru but no one has received them. The Commission discussed the report of the Fire Marshall and as a Commission not receiving the report. John shared that the inspection was done Feb. 27; 3/15 a report was submitted; 4/15 items that had to be addressed immediately; 6/15 items that were to be addressed or a plan to be submitted to the Fire Marshall. The Commission decided that a draft letter to the City Manager be prepared inviting him or his designee to the next meeting to address the concerns of the findings by Chris Fletcher and Damian Davis as well as the Fire Marshall report. Marti agreed to draft letter for Chris. The drainage issue at the shelter was discussed with the possibility of the drainage being fixed with volunteers. The issue would be discussed with Chris Haddox at the next meeting. It was agreed that the Fall Block party should continue to be on the agenda for planning ideas. The scheduled ADA upgrades have not been changed. Danielle Trumble had no updates from the Friends of Woodburn or the Neighborhood Association. It was noted that the Mon County Commission denied the Commission request for funds for building repairs. There was not an update on the Dominion Hope grant request. Ron Dulaney reminded the group that he would be out of town for the next meeting. The meeting was adjourned at 6:45 p.m. The next meeting will be July 25, 2019@ 6 p.m. at Woodburn School.
