Morgantown Municipal Green Team Minutes, July 1, 2019 Attending: Jim Kotcon, Karen Kalafat, Joe Kanosky, Joe Reilly, Sarah Cayton, Lynn Casro, Bill Kawecki Volkswagen Settlement WV-DOH received 43 comments and summarized those in a two-paragraph web posting. Although numerous comments (including those from Morgantown) expressed support for more electric vehicles and opposition to the allocation the the DOH fleet, DOH approved their draft plan as written. Recycling: Jim Kotcon discuss the recycling grant and heard responses from the June 25 SWA meeting. The grant proposal was submitted to WV-DEP.. Climate Action Plan The City budget included funds for energy efficiency projects. The City Engineer is implementing those for the 2019-2020 budget year. Jim and Joe discussed a possible LED street light initiative from First Energy. Green Space Coalition Flegal Dam and the White Park pipeline were discussed. MUB is developing alternative routes for consideration by City Council. New Business Annexation Plans Proposals to annex certain areas into the City were discussed. Significant public opposition was heard at public meetings, primarily from businesses and property owners opposed to annexation. Efforts to analyze the environmental outcomes of annexation were discussed, but no specific plans arose. Recruitment of new Green Team Members Team members were urged to invite prospective members to a future Green Team meeting. A new secretary for the Team is needed. Meeting adjourned at 7:00 PM.
