Woodburn School Redevelopment Commission Minutes of Thursday June 24, 2021 Members present: Chris Haddox, John Trumble, Marti Shamberger, Ron Dulaney, Marly Hazen Ynigues, Evan Fedorko. Guest: Danielle Trumble, City Councilor elect The meeting was called to order by Chris Haddox at 6:04 p.m. via ZOOM. The minutes were accepted as presented. Building updates Status of old tenants. The Assistant City Manager is working with the Boys and Girls Club to finalize their property being removed from the school property. M.T. Pockets has cleaned up there space after being closed during Covid-19. Current and incoming City Council members recently toured the property. The interior has been updated with new lighting and painting as well as the addition of the items funded from the CDBG grant including an elevator, ADA accessible bathrooms, entry doors, and parking. Status of new tenants leases were issue for The Shack and the Mountaineer Home School Hub. The leases will begin July 7, 2021 early access for both groups will begin June 6. Lower Parking lot the City is looking into the vehicles that have been left in the lower parking lot. Playground the City will be looking at CDBG funding to help with playground improvements. The gardens which were previously discussed will be part of the playground project. Rebranding/naming John shared the results of the poll sent out to WSRC members for the Woodburn School property with highest to lowest votes: The Woodburn Center at 918 Fortney Street Woodburn Place Woodburn Community Assets Center Woodburn Overlook Multipurpose Center The Woodburn Center for New Growth Woodburn Center for Community Growth and Development The Summit Eastview Place Woodburn Multi-Tenant Center Old School Center for Community Development Marly agreed to lead the rebranding efforts of the property, working along with John and the Assistant City Manager. Mural update- There were no updates on the mural for this month. John and Jesse Heady will be getting together to discuss ideas.
