Woodburn Community Complex Commission
Minutes of Thursday February 3, 2022
Members present: Chris Haddox, John Trumble, Marti Shamberger, Ron Dulaney, Evan Fedorko, and
City Councilor Danielle Trumble .
The meeting was called to order by Chris Haddox at 6:02 p.m. via ZOOM. The minutes were accepted as
presented.
Building updates: The City received notice from the Shack as of January that they were terminating their
lease. The commission discussed other uses for the vacant space including a possible daycare site, or
clinic for City employees.
Outside grounds update: Several trees and bushes have been removed from the Charles Avenue side of
the property. No updates have been received regarding the roof. The RFP for the playground is being put
out for bid again due to technical deficiencies. Work on the playground will not be happening this spring.
The City received a $10,000 grant for a mural to be painted on the playground side of the exterior gym
wall. A requests for artist has been advertised through the end of February.
Rebranding update: The City is requesting input from the commission regarding the sign for the
complex. John Trumble has an idea for signage and will share on Google drive. The group suggested that
the sign may want to look similar in font to the Woodburn neighborhood signs. The placement of the
sign(s) may be at the bottom of Charles Ave and Fortney St and Fortney St and Richwood Ave for more
visibility of the complex.
WSRC name change: The group agreed with the City Attorney’s suggestion to change the name of
Article 162 from the “Woodburn School Redevelopment Commission to the “Woodburn Commission “.
Annual report: A draft of the 2021 annual report was distributed. Any additions or corrections should
be sent to Marti. Councilor Trumble would let Chris know if the annual report could be presented at the
February or March Committee of the Whole.
Other: The commission discussed asking the City for a summary of improvements on the building and
improvement plans going forward. Two vacancies still exist on the commission beginning January 1,
2022.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:05 p.m.
The next schedule meeting is February 24, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. via Zoom.
