Town of Mount Airy Water and Sewer Commission Meeting Minutes – June 3, 2015 Commission members in attendance: Dick Swanson, Council Liaison Peter Helt, and Fred Goundry. The meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm. Minutes: Fred Goundry moved to approve the minutes of the May 6, 2015 meeting. Seconded by Dick Swanson and with two in favor and one abstention. Old Business: Stormwater Management: Dick Swanson reported that on May 27th Town Administrator Monika Weierbach and W&S member Dick Swanson toured seven Stormwater management project throughout Carroll County. The WRCC tour was to familiarize WRCC members with a variety of stormwater projects to provide a frame of reference as the group considers future projects to meet the stormwater permit mitigation requirements. FOG Compliance: Dick Swanson updated the W&S on FOG compliance. He stated that two FSEs have not filed their grease trap forms. The Code Enforcer expects to receive the form and variance request from High’s (1001 Twin Arch Road) and will issue a citation to Tutti Fruitti of Mt Airy if they do not submit their form soon. FOG Variance Requests: Dick Swanson presented two variance requests from the requirements of the FOG section of Chapter 91 (Sewer). The Mt Airy Baptist Church, 1402 N. Main Street, requested a variance based on the fact that the church is not connected to the Town sewer system. Marsha Zimmerman confirmed that the church is connected to the Town water system but not to the sewer system. Peter Helt moved to approve their variance request, seconded by Fred Goundry and passed unanimously. High’s, 109 Ridgeside Ct, requested a variance siting that they do not have a grease trap in the facility. An inspection of the property needs to be conducted. Peter Helt moved to approve the request provided Brain Johnson finds no issues with the request, seconded by Fred Goundry and passed unanimously. New Business: Council Prioritization of Capital Projects: Dick Swanson provided a list a capital projects preliminarily prioritized at the June 1st Town Council meeting. He noted that researching addition water sources to meet the Master Plan goals and funding stormwater management mitigation are two of eight capital projects under consideration by the Council. Next W&S Meeting: Due to a conflict with the MML convention on July 1st , Peter Helt moved that the W&S not meet in July and meet next on August 5th , seconded by Fred Goundry and passed unanimously. Adjournment: Fred Goundry moved to adjourn the meeting. Seconded by Peter Helt and passed by unanimous vote. The meeting was adjourned at 7:45 pm.
