Tuesday, May 9, 2023, 5:00 p.m.

MINUTES
1. Call to Order
Mayor Haynie called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. Brenda Corley,
Howard Chapman, Laura Hyatt, Gary Santos, Jake Rambo, John
Iacofano, Guang Ming Whitley and Carl Ritchie were all present.
2. Public Comment
Howard Chapman, 824 Natchez Circle stated at the public hearing
on 526 that was held in Council Chambers, he was asked to thank Mayor
and Council for working with Grassy Creek and Tidal Walk on the issue
of shifting the exit from the truck terminal. Ms. Angie Anderson specifically
asked Mr. Chapman to thank Council. Mr. Chapman said on Friday of
last week, he, Mayor Haynie and Council Member Ritchie attended an
event by the African American Settlement Historic Commission where a
tree was planted in memory of former Council Member Thomasena
Stokes-Marshall. The African American Settlement Historic Commission
presented to Mayor and Council a piece of a board that belonged to the
Long Point School, as a token of appreciation for the assistance in moving
the school house. Mr. Chapman would like the board to be placed in the
History Room here at Town Hall.
3. Recognition of Lacrosse State Champion Teams
Ms. Hyatt recognized the Oceanside Academy Girls 4A, Wando Girls
5A and Beckham Boys 4A Lacrosse state Champions.

4. Executive Session
Mr. Santos moved to go into executive session to discuss the
items listed on the agenda, seconded by Mr. Chapman. All
present voted in favor.
The meeting was adjourned into executive session at 5:10 p.m.

Update on pending litigation entitled CKC Properties, LLC vs.
Town of Mount Pleasant, et al (2021-CP-10- 4416; 2021-CP-
10-4761; and 2021-CP-10-5211), James N. Deierlein, Jr., et al
vs. Commission of Public Works for the Town of Mount
Pleasant, et al (2023-CP-10-1688), Henry Bailem IV vs.
County of Charleston and Town of Mount Pleasant (2023-CP-

10-0947), City of Charleston, et al vs. Airbnb, Inc., et al (2021-
CP-10-1650)
5. Post Executive Session
Council may take action on any item, including any subsection of any
section, listed on an executive session agenda or discussed in an
executive session during a properly noticed meeting.
Mayor Haynie reconvened the meeting at 5:54 p.m. stating no
action or votes had been taken.
Ms. Hyatt moved to appoint Susan Johnson to Seat 1, Andrea Martin
to Seat 2, Lia Colabello to Seat 3, David Quick to Seat 4, Angus
MacBride to Seat 5, Rachel Honderd to Seat 6, Jim Westerhold to Seat
7, Olivia Flynn to Seat 8, and Mary Conley to Seat 9 of the GREEN
Commission, seconded by Mr. Chapman. All present voted in favor.
6. Adjourn
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 5:55
p.m.
