SPECIAL TOWN COUNCIL MEETING Tuesday, September 12, 2023, 5:00 p.m. Municipal Complex, Council Chambers 100 Ann Edwards Lane, Mount Pleasant, SC 29464 MINUTES 1. Call to Order Mayor Haynie called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. Brenda Corley, Howard Chapman, Gary Santos, Jake Rambo, John Iacofano, Guang Ming Whitley and Carl Ritchie were all present. Laura Hyatt was absent. 2. Public Comment There were no public comments. 3. Recognition of Cub Scout Pack 502, Boy Scouts of America Troop 502B and Troop 502G for becoming a Guiness World Records Title Holder Mayor and Council recognized and congratulated members of Cub Scout Pack 502 on their accomplishment. Mr. Nathan Schutte stated over 700 blankets were collected to build the fort and will go to community homeless and animal shelters. He thanked the Town for allowing them to use the Mount Pleasant Waterfront Park for the project. 4. Executive Session Mayor Haynie stated there is a need to go into executive session to receive an update on pending litigation entitled James N. Deierlein, Jr., et al vs. Commission of Public Works for the Town of Mount Pleasant. Mr. Chapman moved to go into executive session, seconded by Ms. Whitley. All present voted in favor. The meeting was adjourned into executive session at 5:06 p.m. Legal and Contractual Update on pending litigation entitled James N. Deierlein, Jr., et al vs. Commission of Public Works for the Town of Mount Pleasant, et al (2023-CP-10-1688). 5. Post Executive Session Council may take action on any item, including any subsection of any section, listed on an executive session agenda or discussed in an executive session during a properly noticed meeting. Mayor Haynie reconvened the meeting at 5:57 p.m. stating no votes or action had been taken. 6.
