SPECIAL TOWN COUNCIL MEETING Tuesday, December 12, 2023 5:00 p.m. Municipal Complex, Council Chambers 100 Ann Edwards Lane, Mount Pleasant, SC 29464 MINUTES 1. Call to Order Mayor Haynie called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. Daniel Brownstein, Howard Chapman, Laura Hyatt, Guang Ming Whitley, Jake Rambo, John Iacofano, Gary Santos and Carl Ritchie were all present. 2. Public Comment Mike Tinkey, 208 Venning Street stated he would like to recommend that Council consider three applicants for the Historic District Preservation Commission, Meghan Gravitt, Miles Martschink, and Warren Player. He said he thought they would all be excellent commission members. He also thanked Robert Crosland and Gene Gallogly for their service and said that Mr. Corey Barber was doing an excellent job on the commission. Denise Fugo, Housing for All Mount Pleasant, wished Mayor and Council happy holidays and said she wanted to be sure they are aware of Housing for All Mount Pleasant’s full support for the thirty affordable homes to be built on Faison Road. She said they were available to assist in any way. 3. Executive Session Personnel Consideration of applications to serve on the Historic District Preservation Commission, the Commercial Design Review Board, and the Construction Board of Adjustments Mr. Rambo moved to go into executive session to discuss applications to serve on the Historic District Preservation Commission, the Commercial Design Review Board and the Construction Board of Adjustments, seconded by Mr. Chapman. All present voted in favor.  The meeting was adjourned into executive session at 5:03 p.m. 4. Post Executive Session Council may take action on any item, including any subsection of any section, listed on an executive session agenda or discussed in an executive session during a properly notice meeting. Mayor Haynie reconvened the meeting at 5:30 p.m. stating no votes were cast or actions taken. Mr. Rambo moved to appoint John Ratliff to the Construction Board of Adjustments, seconded by Mr. Chapman. All present voted in favor. Mr. Chapman moved to appoint to the Historic District Preservation Commission James Bakker and Meghan Gravitt, and to reappoint Warren Player, seconded by Mr. Brownstein. All present voted in favor. Mr. Iacofano moved to appoint Matt Senecal to the Commercial Design Review Board, seconded by Mr. Ritchie. All present voted in favor. 5. South Carolina State Ports Authority Update Ms. Jordi Yarborough, Vice President, Statewide Stakeholders and Local Government Engagement gave the following update. Page 2 of 6 Page 3 of 6 Page 4 of 6 6. Cresco Award Presentation Kate Miller and members of the Historical Commission presented the Cresco Award to Mr. Richard Habersham. 7. Kevin Williamson Award Presentation Council Member Gary Santos and Mr. John Dodds presented the Kevin Williamson Award for Tackle Football to Riggs Johnson.
