A - Town Council Meetings

SPECIAL TOWN COUNCIL MEETING Tuesday November 12, 2024 4:45 p.m. Municipal Complex, Council Chambers 100 Ann Edwards Lane, Mount Pleasant, SC 29464 MINUTES 1. Call to Order Mayor Haynie called the meeting to order at 4:46 p.m. Daniel Brownstein, Howard Chapman, Laura Hyatt, Guang Ming Whitley, John Iacofano, Gary Santos, Jake Rambo and Carl Ritchie were all present. Mayor Haynie thanked all of the Veterans and Council Member Ritchie, the only Veteran serving on Town Council, for their service to our country. 2. Public Comment There were no public comments. 3. Executive Session Mr. Brownstein moved to go into executive session for all the reasons stated on the agenda, seconded by Mr. Santos. All present voted in favor. The meeting was adjourned into executive session at 4:47 pm. a. Personnel 1. Consideration of applications to serve on the Accommodations Tax Advisory Committee 2. Consideration of applications to serve on the Recreation Advisory Commission b. Legal and contractual Update on pending litigation captioned James N. Deierlein, Jr., et al. vs. the Commission of Public Works for the Town of Mount Pleasant, et al. (2023-CP-10-01688) 4. Post Executive Session Council may take action on any item, including any subsection of any section, listed on an executive session agenda or discussed in an executive session during a properly noticed meeting.  Mayor Haynie reconvened the meeting at 5:41 p.m. stating no votes or action had been taken. Mr. Iacofano moved to appoint to the Accommodations Tax Advisory Committee, Livia Thomas to seat #4, Lodging, and Monique Semper to seat #6, Hospitality, seconded by Mr. Chapman. All present voted in favor. Mr. Rambo moved to appoint the following members to the Recreation Advisory Commission: Gregory Winch - Seat #1 Richard Phillips - Seat #2 Greer Hanlon - Seat #3 Greg Hutton - Seat #4 April Gift - Seat #5 Chad Isom - Seat #6 Derek Conrad - Seat #7 Mr. Chapman seconded the motion. Mr. Iacofano and Mr. Santos opposed with all others present voting in favor. Motion carried 7-2. 5. Presentation of the Kevin Williamson Award Mr. Santos presented the Kevin Williamson Award to flag football recipient, Camila Fergusson and tackle football recipient, Ryan Sullivan. Page 2 of 4 6. Recognition of the South Carolina 5A Division 1 State Swimming Champions Ms. Hyatt recognized the SC 5A Division 1 state swimming champions. Page 3 of 4 7.
