1. Call to Order
Mayor Pro Tempore Guang Ming Whitley called the meeting to order at
5:00 p.m. Daniel Brownstein, Howard Chapman, Laura Hyatt, John
Iacofano, Jake Rambo, Gary Santos and Mike Tinkey were all present.
Mayor Haynie was absent.
2. Public Comment
Mr. Grady Johnson, Executive Director for the Harbor Entrepreneur
Center expressed his gratitude to the Town for their support.
3. Executive Session
A. Legal & Contractual Items
(1) Legal advice related to pending litigation captioned
James N. Deierlein, Jr., et al. vs. the Commission of
Public Works for the Town of Mount Pleasant, et al.
(2023-CP-10-01688)
(2) Legal advice and contractual matters related to the
Harbor Entrepreneur Center
(3) Legal advice and contractual matters related to Faison
Road property owned by the Town of Mount Pleasant
B. Personnel
(1) Consideration of applications to serve on the GREEN
Commission (4 vacancies)
Councilmember Santos moved to go into executive session for the
reasons stated by Mayor Pro Tempore Whitley and listed on the
agenda, seconded by Councilmember Chapman. All present voted
in favor.
The meeting was adjourned into executive session at 5:01 p.m.
4. Post Executive Session
Council may take action on any item, including any subsection of
any section, listed on an executive session agenda or discussed in
executive session during a properly noticed meeting.
Mayor Pro Tempore Whitley reconvened the meeting at 5:55 p.m. stating
no votes were taken.
Councilmember Brownstein moved to allocate $100,000 from the
Economic Development budget to the Harbor Entrepreneur Center,
seconded by Councilmember Iacofano. All present voted in favor.
Councilmember Tinkey moved to reappoint Rachel Honderd, Jim
Westerhold, Olivia Flynn and Mary Conley to the GREEN Commission,
seconded by Councilmember Hyatt. All present voted in favor.
Councilmember Iacofano, with respect to item 3.A.(3), moved to direct
legal counsel to take action as discussed in executive session, seconded
by Councilmember Brownstein. All present voted in favor.
5. Adjourn
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 5:56 p.m.
