MOUNT PLEASANT YOUTH COUNCIL Thursday, August 11, 2022 5:00 PM Mount Pleasant Municipal Complex Council Chambers 100 Ann Edwards Lane, Mount Pleasant, SC 29464 MINUTES Ms. Sims called the first meeting of the 2022/2023 Youth Council to order at 5:04 p.m. Members Brooker Hampton, Annie Cunnane, Evan Curb, Garrett Griffin, Willa Jones, Cam Milewski, Rowan Rucker, Ainsley Scarlett, Addie Utsey and Lane Yarbrough were all present. Grace Griffin and Chad Weis were absent. 1. Public Comments John Iacofano, 388 Overseer Place, welcomed the returning and new members of Youth Council and said they can do some great things. He said it is important to link the Education Committee with Youth Council. He thanked them for volunteering their time. 2. Welcome and Introductions The Youth Council Members introduced themselves. 3. Approval of the minutes from the May 5, 2022 meeting Ms. Jones moved to approve the minutes, seconded by Mr. Griffin. All present voted in favor. 4. Review of Roberts Rules of Order Ms. Sims reviewed Roberts Rules of Order. 5. Overview of the Town of Mount Pleasant and Youth Council Program Ms. Sims gave a brief overview of the Town of Mount Pleasant and Youth Council. 6. Discussion of priority projects for the session Ms. Sims stated there will be four service projects and with the goal of one per quarter, but adjustments can be made as needed and an effort made to be tied to one of Youth Councils priority projects. Ms. Sims said at the next meeting, the list of priorities for the session year will be made. She asked the members to be thinking about their local priorities. 7. Call for nominations for Chair and Vice-Chair positions Ms. Sims explained the roll of each position. Ms. Jones stated she would like to be considered to serve as the Chair. Ms. Brooker, Mr.  Griffin and Mr. Curb all stated they would like to be considered to serve as the Vice Chair. Ms. Sims stated Ms. Griffin informed her that she would like to be considered to serve as Vice Chair as well. Ms. Sims asked the nominees to please submit a short presentation outlining why each of them should be considered for the positions. The presentations will be made at the next meeting and voting for the positions will take place immediately thereafter. 8.
