TOWN OF MOUNT PLEASANT, SOUTH CAROLINA PLANNING COMMISSION MARCH 20, 2024 MINUTES PowerPoint Presentation Present: Kathy Smith, Chair, Garrett Lacy, Brett Bennett, Adam Ferrara, Pam Ireland, Gary Davis, Bill Smyth, Michelle Mansour, Mike Tinkey. Staff: Peter Stone, Jake Carter, James Ward, John Farrell, Lynnette Lynes Ms. Smith called the meeting to order at 5:00 pm. 1. Approval of the Agenda Mr. Ferrara moved for approval of the agenda. Ms. Ireland seconded the motion. All in favor. 2. Approval of Minutes from February 21st Meeting Mr. Lacy moved for approval of the minutes. Ms. Ireland seconded the motion. All in favor. 3. Update on Planning Commission Recommendations Mr. Stone reviewed the Town Council decisions with the Commission. 4. Correspondence All correspondence received was linked to the agenda. 5. General Public Comment Mr. Daniel Brownstein, 1391 Pondsbury Drive, thanked Ms. Smith for her service as a Commission member and chair of the Commission. There being no further comments, Ms. Smith closed public comment and continued with the agenda. Planning Commission March 20, 2024 Page 2 of 2 6. Requests A. Zoning Case: R-04-24, Request to amend the Wilson Tract PD, Planned Development, specifically pertaining to allowances for building signage square footage within the Sweetgrass Corner Shopping Center, located at 1909 N Highway 17. Subject parcel is 9.97-acres, identified by TMS No. 558-00-00-102. Further Indicated on a plat recorded by the Charleston County ROD Office in Plat Book CF, Page 96. Mr. Stone and Mr. Carter reviewed staff comments with the Commission. Mr. Jay Claypoole, attorney for owner, reviewed the request with the Commission. There being no comments, Ms. Smith closed the public hearing. Ms. Ireland moved for approval of the request. Mr. Bennett seconded the motion. All in favor. B. Street Name Approval , Request for road name approval. A private access easement serving commercial development within Carolina Park, connecting Faison Road and Park Avenue. The road was originally approved in 2019, and formerly called CPC-7. Street Mr. Davis moved for approval of the request. Mr. Ferrara seconded the motion. All in favor. Ms. Smith stated that is has been an honor to work with the Planning Commission and thanked staff for all of their work and efforts as well as her fellow Commission members.
