TRANSPORTATION COMMITTEE PRESENTATION
Members Present: Mayor Will Haynie, Chair; Bob Brimmer, Joe Bustos,
Kevin Cunnane
Staff Present: Brad Morrison, Eric DeMoura, Paul Lykins
Mayor Haynie called the meeting to order at 2:00 p.m.
1. Approval of Minutes from the April 1, 2019 meeting
Mr. Bustos moved for approval of the minutes; motion seconded by Mr.
Brimmer. Motion carried unanimously.
2. Public Comments
[None]
3. Discussion of rideshare safety issues
Discussion between the Committee and staff regarding a feasibility study for
designated rideshare pickup locations near restaurants and bars.
Mr. Cunnane moved to direct staff to examine the potential for designated
rideshare pickup locations to enhance safety; motion seconded by Mr. Bustos.
Motion carried unanimously.
4. Discussion of the Street Sign Replacement Program

Discussion between the Committee and staff regarding suspending the Street
Sign Replacement Program for street name signs within Old Village Historic
District and Old Village area and proceeding in other areas of Mount Pleasant.
Mr. Bustos moved to suspend the Street Sign Replacement Program within Old
Village Historic District and Old Village area; motion seconded by Brimmer.
Motion carried unanimously.
5. Charleston County Transportation Committee (CTC) “C” Fund and
Transportation Sales Tax (TST) Project Requests
Mr. Morrison presented to the Committee staff’s prioritized
recommendations for the Charleston County Transportation Committee
(CTC) “C” Fund and Transportation Sales Tax (TST) Project Requests.
Mr. Bustos moved to adopt the recommendations presented by staff for the
Charleston County Transportation Committee “C” Fund and Transportation
Sales Tax project requests; motion seconded by Brimmer. Motion carried
unanimously.
6. Discuss crosswalk on Coleman Boulevard at the Boulevard
Discussion with the Committee and staff regarding installation of a mid-block
crosswalk on Coleman Boulevard in the proximity of The Boulevard
apartment complex.
Mr. Bustos moved to direct staff to submit a study to SCDOT requesting a mid-
block crosswalk on Coleman Boulevard at the Boulevard apartment complex;
motion seconded by Mr. Cunnane. Motion carried unanimously.
7. Update – ongoing projects
Mr. Lykins provided updates on the Coleman Boulevard Revitalization Project
and the All American Boulevard Extension Project.
8. Adjourn
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 2:42 p.m.
