Response: (Mayor - Budget presentation) Mayor Patterson - Howard: discuss the community conversation and the BOE public hearing. Another area of revenue that could help was employee contributions to medical coverage. PD and FD already contribute. There will be legislation for electees and appointees to contribute to medical coverage. That increase in revenue will help establish the fund balance. The Unions will be next, we just can’t budget for that yet. Council President Gleason: Each department must be fully active and aware of their budget. Comptroller Morton: Joined the meeting to discuss this with the city. That this budget is important and that the Comptroller is trying to escape responsibility. I have established hardliners and have given suggestions on where we need to be. I reviewed both conversations about the budget and the PH on Wednesday and had conversations with asst comptroller and along with conversations with the mayor, this is where we are at. This budget must be managed very carefully because it is very tight. We should be carrying a 15% contingency for unplanned circumstances. Mayor SPH: idea of having a budget committee with comptroller and the other departments. Monthly meetings.
