WORK ON THE BOILER WHEREAS, by letter dated March 8, 2021, the Deputy Cornrnissioner of ihe Department of Public Works has requested legislation authorizing "Controlled Combustion" a vendor charged with repairing the City's boiler system to complete additional work in the amount not to exceed $27,370.00; and WHEREAS, the current boiler system located in City Hall's basement has deteriorated, the boiler feed tanks, pumps, and control panel have failed and cannot operate at its full capacity; and WHEREAS, it is further requested that payment in the amount of $27,270.00 be authorized as soon as possible; NOW, THEREFORE, The City of Mount Vernon, in City Council convened, does hereby ordain and enact: Sectionl. The Department of Public Works is hereby authorized to employ "Controlled Combustion" a vendor charged with repairing the City's boiler system to complete additional work in the amount not to exceed $27,370.00. Section 2. Funds for the aforesaid not to exceed $27,370.00 are available from Budget Code A1620.414 (Building Maintenance - Repairs to Plant & Equipment), Department of Public Works 2021 Budget. Section 3. This ordinance shall take effect upon its approval by the Board of Estimate & Contract. Mayor MAR- 8 202 AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF MOUNT VERNON TO PAY WESTCHESTER COUNTY CAREER FIRE CHIEFS TO TRAJN FIVE (5) NEW PROBATIONARY FIREFIGHTERS. WHEREAS, by letter dated March 8, 2021, Fire Commissioner Deborah M. Norman has requested legislation authorizing the City of Mount Vernon to pay Westchester County Career Fire Chiefs to train five (5) new probationary firefighters for the March 2021 Academy Course; and WHEREAS, the cost of the training will be $17,500.00; and WHEREAS, it is further requested that the City pay Westchester County Career Fire Chiefs in the amount not to exceed $17,500.00 be authorized and paid prior to the training to commence on March 15, 2021; NOW, THEREFORE, The City of Mount Vemon, in City Council convened, does hereby ordain and enact: Section 1. The City is hereby authorized to pay Westchester County Career Fire Chiefs to train five (5) new probationary firefighters for the March 2021 Academy Course" in the amount not to exceed $17,500.00 to be paid prior to the cornrnencement of the March 2021 Academy 2021 on March 15, 2021. WHEREAS, by letter dated March 8, 2021, Fire Commissioner Deborah M. Norman has requested legislation authorizing the City of Mount Vernon to pay AAA Emergency Supply Co. for the PPE Turn-Out Gear, Firefighter boots and masks for five (5) new probationary firefighters for the March 2021 Academy Course; and WHEREAS, the cost of the training will be $4,500.00 for each of the five (5) firefighters for a total not to exceed $22,500.00; and WHEREAS, it is fiirther requested that the City pay AAA Emergency Supply Co., in the amount not to exceed $22,500.00 be authorized and paid prior to the training to commence on March 15, 2021; NOW, THEREFORE, The City of Mount Vernon, in City Council convened, does hereby ordain and enact: Section 1. The City is hereby authorized to pay AAA Emergency Supply Co., in the amount not to exceed $22,500.00. Section 2. Funds for the aforesaid not to exceed $22,500.00 are available from Budget Code A3410.499, Fire Department 2021 Budget. Section 3.
