Rogerson; Project Development Manager Donovan; Police Chief Dodd
Minutes from May 15, 2019 were approved.
1. DS Staff Update- Mr. Phillips gave an update on recent staff retirements and new hires.
2. Code Enforcement Update- Mr. Lee provided an overview of the MVMC controlling vehicle
parking on residential property.
3. Facility Update- Mr. Phillips gave an overview of the 2019 Facility Renewal Projects.
4. SmartGov Update- Mr. Phillips gave an update on the SmartGov integration. Currently
there are bi-monthly SmartGov-Mount Vernon hour of power trainings, workflow
assessments, standard operating procedure assessments and weekly staff trainings.
5. Project Update- Mrs. Lowell gave an update on projects:
Downtown
- 619 S 2nd St: install commercial hood/new bathroom (Iverson Building)
- 410 S 1st St: install drop ceiling, convert mezzanine into new offices and install new
exterior windows (Broman Building)
- 513 S 1st St: install exterior stairs to second story
- 519 S 1st St: convert office space to apartment and install fire sprinklers
- 520 S Main St: new restaurant and brewery
- 509 S 1st St: creation of Evergreen Beauty College
- 217 S 1st St: creating tattoo removal space, art studio and tea shop
- 514 S 1st St: creation of two live/work spaces (Old Tattered Page/City Bakery)
- 406-410 S 1st St: relocation front entry, with new doors/windows with office
renovation (Broman Building)
- 609 S 1st St: tenant improvements, future use unknown (was proposed billiards)
ALFCO
- Public Hearing notifications have gone out
6. Safe Parking Discussion- Mr. Donovan gave a presentation on “safe parking” within the
City Limits of Mount Vernon. This is a program designed to allow for the control of
overnight parking (sleeping in vehicles) within designated parking lots- typically the
parking lots of churches and non-profit organizations. He gave an overview of other areas
in the state who are running similar programs and an overview of the City’s homeless
codes.
7. Misc./Good of the Order- Mr. Phillips and Mrs. Lowell gave an update on the House Bill
1923: Urban Residential Building Capacity amendments.
