Flood Prep Overview i. City Flood Response Program Checklist ii. County Flood Awareness Week: 16-20 October 2023 b. Cartegraph Update i. General Facilities, Stormwater and PW Operations Implementation: 18-22 September 2023 ii. Phase II will begin in October 2023 PROGRAM COORDINATION DIVISION – Blaine Chesterfield Engineering Manager Chesterfield gave a status update for two current City Projects: The Army Corp of Engineers and Dike District 3, with assistance from the City of Mount Vernon, completed a levee repair project by Lions Park on August 17, 2023. The project was a success and will protect the levee and floodwall. The public’s patience while the Riverwalk was closed was greatly appreciated. The initial Park Street Pump Station Design meeting was held on September 8, 2023. The design consultant for this project is HDR Engineering, Inc. After some initial data collection, followed by alternatives analysis, the thirty percent design will be completed early next year. PROJECT UPDATES – Bill Bullock City Engineer Bullock gave a status update on the status of the Hoag Laventure Signal Project which is due to be operational in the first week of October. He also gave the council an update on the details relating to coordinating ADA sidewalk ramp retrofits triggered by PSE projects. LIBRARY COMMITTEE TOPICS – Isaac Huffman Library Director Huffman shared how the library will spend a moment honoring the work of Ms. Beth, who gave so much to the Mount Vernon City Library. He also summarized the Summer Wrap-up: what worked and didn’t work in the summer programming. (Highlights include Events and Enrolment. Adjustments included the need for an earlier start date and better links to summer programs.) Director Huffman then provided a few quick highlights on the Mount Vernon Library Commons construction progress, including construction of the 3rd floor and preparation for enclosing the first floor.
