1. CALL TO ORDER
Chair Donahue called the meeting to order at 7:35 p.m.
2. ROLL CALL
Present 3- Max Beckman-Harned, Vice Chair Elena Lopez, and Chairperson Paul Donahue
Absent 1- Nicole Vogt
3. MINUTES APPROVAL
Motion - M/S Beckman-Harned/Lopez to approve the Library Board minutes of the
July 17, 2017 meeting.
The motion carried by the following vote:
Yes: 4- Beckman-Harned, Stock, Vice Chair Lopez, and Chairperson Donahue
Absent: 1- Vogt
4. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS FROM THE PUBLIC - None
5. UNFINISHED BUSINESS
5.1 Library Card and Borrowing Policv
The policy was discussed and it was decided to wait to finalize it so the Board could get input
from the Friends of the Mountain View Library on the proposed renewal of items in the
Friends of the Library collection.
6. NEW BUSINESS
6.1 Results of Summer Reading Program
2,539 people participated in the program and read a total of 25,672 books so far.

Library performance measures were discussed. Trustee Lopez asked for a breakdown of
program attendance by age group. Director Macek will include this in her report next month.
6.3 Year End Accomplishments
The list of library accomplishments above and beyond the day-to-day service was reviewed.
7. BOARD/STAFF ANNOUNCEMENTS, UPDATES, REQUESTS, AND COMMITTEE
REPORTS
Trustee Stock mentioned that all the previous benchmark reports are available and could be
moved to the library website.
Trustee Lopez said that in lieu of a geographic analysis of cardholders the library could reach
out to underserved groups by connecting with groups like Headstart, public housing, and the
Day Worker Center.

Director Macek presented the report and answered questions.

motion is in order to approve these minutes.

This portion of the meeting is reserved for persons wishing to address the Board on any
matter not on the agenda. Speakers are limited to three minutes. State law prohibits
the Board from acting on non-agenda items.
