CALL TO ORDER Chair Donahue called the meeting to order at 7:35 p.m. 2. ROLL CALL Present 4- Max Beckman-Harned, Nicole Vogt, Vice Chair Elena Lopez, and Chairperson Paul Donahue 3. MINUTES APPROVAL Motion - M/S Beckman-Harned/Lopez to approve the Library Board minutes of the September 18, 2017 meeting. The motion carried by the following vote: Yes: 4- Beckman-Harned, Vogt, Vice Chair Lopez, and Chairperson Donahue Yes: 4- Beckman-Harned, Vogt, Vice Chair Lopez, and Chairperson Donahue 4. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS FROM THE PUBLIC - None 5. NEW BUSINESS 5.1 Brown Act presentation by a representative from the City Attorney’s office Nicole Wright, Senior Deputy City Attorney, gave a presentation about the Brown Act and answered questions. An issue arose about access to the Library Board meetings after the Library is closed at 9:00 p.m. Director Macek will follow up with Attorney Wright for further direction. It was also recommended that a short description be added with each item on the Library Board agendas. 5.2 Remodel update and artwork for new children's area Attachments: Library Artwork Director Macek summarized the information in the Director’s Report on this item and answered questions. City of Mountain View Page 1 Library Board Minutes October 16, 2017 5.3 Benchmark report - Discuss goals and content Attachments: Service and Spending Overview 2017 Service and Spending Analysis 2005 Motion - M/S Lopez/Beckman-Harned that the Library Board not produce a benchmark report for FY 17/18 and to re-evaluate the need for future reports in one year or less. The motion carried by the following vote: Yes: 4- Beckman-Harned, Vogt, Vice Chair Lopez, and Chairperson Donahue 5.4 Library collection report Attachments: Report Director Macek presented the report and answered questions. 5.5 Review meeting dates for November, December, January, and February Motion - M/S Beckman-Harned/Lopez that the upcoming Regular Library Board meetings be changed to the following dates: November 13, 2017 December 11, 2017 January 8, 2018 February 12, 2018 The motion carried by the following vote: Yes: 4- Beckman-Harned, Vogt, Vice Chair Lopez, and Chairperson Donahue 6. BOARD/STAFF ANNOUNCEMENTS, UPDATES, REQUESTS, AND COMMITTEE REPORTS Trustee Beckman-Harned reported that he submitted an Ask MV update request to the Library website on Sunday and it was addressed by Monday. 6.1 Director's report Attachments: Report Director Macek presented the report and answered questions. 7.
