Public Library City of Mountain View 585 Franklin Street Minutes Library Board Boardmembers Beckman-Harned, Bismanovsky, Donahue, Vice Chair Vogt, Chair Lopez Monday, August 20, 2018 7:00 PM Program Room - 2nd Floor 1. CALL TO ORDER Chair Lopez called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. 2. ROLL CALL Present 5- Max Beckman-Harned, Phyllis Bismanovsky, Paul Donahue, Vice Chair Nicole Vogt, and Chair Elena Lopez Vice Chair Vogt arrived at 7:03 p.m. 3. MINUTES APPROVAL Motion - M/S Donahue/Beckman-Harned to approve the Library Board minutes of the July 16, 2018 meeting. The motion carried by the following vote: Yes: 3- Beckman-Harned, Donahue, and Chair Lopez Absent: 1- Vice Chair Vogt Abstain: 1- Bismanovsky 4. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS FROM THE PUBLIC - None 5. NEW BUSINESS 5.1 Friends of the Mountain View Library update Treasurer Pat Kassner handed out the financial report and discussed the Friends of the Mountain View Library budget. Updates and discussions were held regarding financials, membership, the lobby shop, book sales, and marketing. City of Mountain View Page 1 Library Board Minutes August 20, 2018 5.2 California Library Association There was discussion of availability of Board member attendance at the California Library Association conference, and the Silicon Valley Library System meeting on November 9th for Boards and Friends.Some discussion of requesting City funds for library board member membership to library organizations such as California Library Association was also brought up. 5.3 Review Fiscal Year 2017/18 Accomplishments and Performance Measures Attachments: Document Questions and discussion occurred regarding specific accomplishments, statistics and measurements, and specific projects. 5.4 Fines and Fees Attachments: Fines and Fees document Discussion of ideas for options and what things to consider when deciding what to do about fines and fees took place. 6. BOARD/STAFF ANNOUNCEMENTS, UPDATES, REQUESTS, AND COMMITTEE REPORTS 6.1 Director's Report Attachments: Report Director Gray informed the Board that the two Council policies related to the library will be brought to the Council Procedures Committee. 7. DONATIONS Receive donation from: Pacific Library Partnership grant $14,187.90 Motion - M/S Beckman-Harned/Bismanovsky to accept the donation.
