CALL TO ORDER Vice Chair Vogt called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. 2. ROLL CALL Present 4- Max Beckman-Harned, Phyllis Bismanovsky, Paul Donahue and Vice Chair Nicole Vogt Absent 1- Chair Elena Lopez 3. MINUTES APPROVAL Motion - M/S Beckman-Harned/Bismanovsky to approve the Library Board minutes of the September 17, 2018 meeting. The motion carried by the following vote: Yes: 4- Beckman-Harned, Bismanovsky, Donahue and Vice Chair Vogt Absent: 1- Chair Lopez 4. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS FROM THE PUBLIC - None 5. UNFINISHED BUSINESS 5.1 Fines and Fees Attachments: Item fines information Discussion of fines and fees statistics, library holds, missing and lost items, and discussed next steps for next meeting. 5.2 Bulletin Board Policy Attachments: Policy draft Reviewed Bulletin Board Policy and discussed revisions. City of Mountain View Page 1 Library Board Minutes October 15, 2018 6. NEW BUSINESS 6.1 Future Library Board Meeting Dates Discuss the meeting dates for December, January, and February. Motion - M/S Donahue/Beckman-Harned to change the January meeting date to January 14 because of the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday and the February meeting date to February 11 because of Presidents Day. The motion carried by the following vote: Yes: 4- Beckman-Harned, Bismanovsky, Donahue and Vice Chair Vogt Absent: 1- Chair Lopez 6.2 Patron written letter of complaint Discussion took place of the letter of complaint related to cell phone use in the library. 7. BOARD/STAFF ANNOUNCEMENTS, UPDATES, REQUESTS, AND COMMITTEE REPORTS Director Gray presented the report and informed the Board of the eight current staff vacancies and the status of the recruitment for those positions. 8. DONATIONS - None 9. AGENDA SETTING/PLANNING - Fines and Fees - Bulletin Board Policy - Report from Trustee Bismanovsky about attendance at California Library Association Conference 10. ADJOURNMENT - At 8:58 p.m. Vice Chair Vogt adjourned the meeting to the next regular Library Board meeting to be held on November 19, 2018. City of Mountain View Page 2
