1. CALL TO ORDER
Vice Chair Conley called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

3. MINUTES APPROVAL
Approval of Minutes
M/S Devine/Hepfer - That Parks and Recreation Commission approve the September 12,
2018 minutes.
Yes: 3- Vice Chair Conley, Commissioner Devine, and Commissioner Hepfer
Absent: 2- Chair Herbach, and Commissioner Lee

6.1 Heritage Tree Appeal: 732 Wake Forest Drive
Forestry and Roadway Manager Jakob Trconic presented an oral report and answered the
Commission's questions.
Speaking from the floor expressing concerns and/or supporting:

M/S Hepfer/Devine - To approve staff recommendation to deny the appeal and allow the
redwood tree to be removed, and ask staff to replace with the largest feasible tree for that
site.
Yes: 3- Vice Chair Conley, Commissioner Devine, and Commissioner Hepfer
Absent: 2- Chair Herbach, and Commissioner Lee
6.2 Heritage Tree Appeal: 1039 Solana Drive
Forestry and Roadway Manager Jakob Trconic presented an oral report and answered the
Commission's questions.
Speaking from the floor expressing concerns and/or supporting:

M/S Hepfer/Devine - To approve staff recommendation to deny the appeal and allow the
Monterey pine tree to be removed, and for it to be replaced with a tree as large as safely
possible based on staff recommendation of an appropriate replacement that would fit
safely in the location.

Recommendation, Project 17-45
Assistant Engineer Marichrisse Gabon and SSA Landscape Architects Senior Project
Manager Scott Reeves gave an oral report and answered the Commission's questions.

M/S Hepfer/Devine - To recommend the staff recommended concept, Revised Concept B,
with the following added motion:
That lighting is addressed to ensure the lighting plan is appropriate for sidewalk use and
not obstructing it.
M/S Hepfer/Devine - To submit the names Evandale and Piazza for Council consideration,
with the strong recommendation for Evandale.
Yes: 3- Vice Chair Conley, Commissioner Devine, and Commissioner Hepfer
Absent: 2- Chair Herbach, and Commissioner Lee

Recommendation, Project 17-45
Recommendation: 1. Review and comment on the recommended Evandale Avenue Mini-Park Conceptual
Plan and recommend approval of the Plan to the City Council.
2. Select at least two names for City Council consideration for the new park.
