CALL TO ORDER Chair Palay called the meeting to order at 6:17p.m. 2. ROLL CALL Present: 3- Committee Member Wise, Vice Chair Donahue, and Chairperson Palay Excused: 1- Committee Member Branyon Absent: 1- Committee Member Mirza 3. MINUTES APPROVAL 3.1 Approval of Minutes. The Performing Arts Committee approve the minutes of the January 17, 2018 meeting. Yes: 3- Committee Member Wise, Vice Chair Donahue, and Chairperson Palay Excused: 1- Committee Member Branyon Absent: 1- Committee Member Mirza 4. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS FROM THE PUBLIC 5. UNFINISHED BUSINESS 5.1 One-Act Play Festival Subcommittee Report. No action was taken. 5.2 MV Presents. No action was taken. City of Mountain View Page 1 Performing Arts Committee Minutes February 21, 2018 5.3 SecondStage Fee Waiver Program. MOTION M/S Palay/Wise - To:approve 75% of waivable fees for Naatak. The motion carried by the following vote: Yes: 3- Committee Member Wise, Vice Chair Donahue, and Chairperson Palay Excused: 1- Committee Member Branyon Absent: 1- Committee Member Mirza The Committee recessed at 6:52p.m. and reconvened at 6:56p.m. MOTION M/S Palay/Donahue - To:approve 50% of waivable fees for Gina Williams. The motion carried by the following vote: Yes: 3- Committee Member Wise, Vice Chair Donahue, and Chairperson Palay Excused: 1- Committee Member Branyon Absent: 1- Committee Member Mirza 5.4 SecondStage Home Company Program Selection Process. No action was taken. 6. NEW BUSINESS 6.1 Work Plan for 2018-19. The Committee made edits to review in March. No action was taken. 6.2 PAC Participation in Downtown Parade. The Committee agreed to participate. No action was taken. 7. COMMITTEE/STAFF ANNOUNCEMENTS, UPDATES, REQUESTS, AND COMMITTEE REPORTS 7.1 PAC Revenue and Expense Spreadsheet. Informational Item. Manager Whisler introduced MVCPA's new Buisness Manager, Noelle Magner. 8. ADJOURNMENT - At 7:40 p.m., Chair Palay adjourned the meeting to the next Performing Arts Committee meeting to be held on March 21, 2018, in the Atrium Conference Room, 500 Castro Street. CALL TO ORDER 2. ROLL CALL 3. MINUTES APPROVAL 3.1 Approval of Minutes. Recommendation: The Performing Arts Committee approve the minutes of the January 17, 2018 meeting. Attachments: PAC Minutes - January 17, 2018 4. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS FROM THE PUBLIC This portion of the meeting is reserved for persons wishing to address the Committee on any matter not on the agenda. Speakers are limited to three minutes. State law prohibits the Committee from acting on non-agenda items. 5. UNFINISHED BUSINESS 5.1 One-Act Play Festival Subcommittee Report. Recommendation: Background: The One-Act Play Festival Subcommittee was first formed in June 2013 and has had several successful years of productions. The Performing Arts Committee (PAC) will be working on plans for the 2019 Festival. Hear an update from the Subcommittee. 5.2 MV Presents. Recommendation: Background: With assistance and encouragement from PAC over several years, several interested parties have incorporated as the 501(3)(3) entity MV Presents, which has a goal of supporting MVCPA programs through fundraising and development of festivals. Former Committee Member Raymond Chan is working with the MV Presents Liasion Committee to coordinate that group's efforts with the Center. Hear an update from the Subcommittee. Recommendation: Background: At the December 11, 2013 PAC meeting, the PAC approved a SecondStage Fee Waiver Program and created a Subcommittee to review any applications. The PAC provided their first fee waiver under this program at the November 10, 2015 meeting. Review all currently received fee waiver applications. Attachments: Naatak Gina Williams 5.4 SecondStage Home Company Program Selection Process. Recommendation: Background: One application has been received and approved by the PAC for the SecondStage Home Company program. Hear an update regarding City Council approval. Review all currently received SecondStage Home Company applications. 6. NEW BUSINESS 6.1 Work Plan for 2018-19. Recommendation: Background: Each year the PAC submits a Work Plan to City Council for the following Fiscal Year. Approve or amend the draft plan submitted by Staff. Attachments: PAC Workplan 18-19 DRAFT 6.2 PAC Participation in Downtown Parade. Recommendation: Background: PAC members were invited to participate in the City’s 40th Annual Downtown Family Parade on April 21, 2018 at 10am. COMMITTEE/STAFF ANNOUNCEMENTS, UPDATES, REQUESTS, AND COMMITTEE REPORTS No action will be taken on any questions raised by the Committee at this time. 7.1 PAC Revenue and Expense Spreadsheet. ADJOURNMENT The next Performing Arts Committee meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 21, 2018, at 6:15 p.m. in the Atrium Conference Room, 500 Castro Street.
