Chair Donahue called the meeting to order at 6:19 p.m.

3. MINUTES APPROVAL
3.1 Approval of Minutes.
The Performing Arts Committee approve the minutes of the September 18, 2019 meeting.

Excused: 2- Committee Member Brewster, and Vice Chair Wise
4. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS FROM THE PUBLIC

5.1 One-Act Play Festival Subcommittee Report.
This item was considered out of agenda order.
MOTION M/S Donahue/Mirza - To: approve Swati's play selection of A Matter of
Husbands, Trifles, and Thirst to be performed for the High School One-Act Play Festival.
The motion carried by the following vote:
Yes: 3- Committee Member Mirza, Committee Member Roy, and Chair Donahue
Excused: 2- Committee Member Brewster, and Vice Chair Wise
MOTION M/S Roy/Donahue - To: approve and accept all updates Committee member
Mirza makes to the High School One-Act Play Festival audition flier.

5.2 SecondStage Fee Waiver Program.
This item was considered out of agenda order.
MOTION M/S Roy/Mirza - To:approve a 75% Fee Waiver for Tingyuan Luo to host a
recital with the recommendation to have other musicans perform and with favor towards
an experimental program.
The motion carried by the following vote:
Yes: 3- Committee Member Mirza, Committee Member Roy, and Chair Donahue
Excused: 2- Committee Member Brewster, and Vice Chair Wise
The Committee requested Staff to follow up with "American Youth Shakespeare" with
specific questions and concerns and report back at the November meeting; while strongly
encouraging applicant attend the November meeting in person.
5.4 Grant and Fundraising Opportunities.
No action was taken.
5.5 Collaborating for Arts and Humanities Month October 2020.
No action was taken.
5.6 Art for Younger Children.
No action was taken.
6. NEW BUSINESS
6.1 Peninsula Youth Theatre Annual Review.
This item was considered out of agenda order.
No action was taken.
7. COMMITTEE/STAFF ANNOUNCEMENTS, UPDATES, REQUESTS AND COMMITTEE
REPORTS
Booking Coordinator Poret reminded and encouraged the Committee members to RSVP
to the City Clerk's Office for the October 28, 2019 Celebration of Service dinner at 5:30pm
to be held in the Redwood Hall at the Mountain View Community Center.
7.1 PAC Revenue and Expense Spreadsheet.
Informational Item.
8. ADJOURNMENT
At 8:06 p.m., Chair Donahue adjourned the meeting to the next Performing Arts
Committee meeting to be held on Wednesday, November 20, 2019, in the Atrium

3.1 Approval of Minutes.
Recommendation: The Performing Arts Committee approve the minutes of the September
18, 2019 meeting.

4. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS FROM THE PUBLIC
This portion of the meeting is reserved for persons wishing to address the Committee on
any matter not on the agenda. Speakers are limited to three minutes. State law prohibits
the Committee from acting on non-agenda items.
5. UNFINISHED BUSINESS
5.1 One-Act Play Festival Subcommittee Report.
Recommendation: Background: The One-Act Play Festival Subcommittee was first formed
in June 2013 and has had several successful years of productions.
The Performing Arts Committee (PAC) will be working on plans for the
2020 Festival.

5.2 SecondStage Fee Waiver Program.
Recommendation: Background: At the December 11, 2013 PAC meeting, the PAC
approved a SecondStage Fee Waiver Program. The PAC provided
their first fee waiver under this program at the November 10, 2015
meeting.
Review all currently received fee waiver applications.

5.4 Grant and Fundraising Opportunities.
Recommendation: Background: At the February 20, 2019 PAC meeting, Committee
members requested exploring options for possible grant or fundraising
opportunities the Committee could take part in.
Hear an update from Committee members.

5.5 Collaborating for Arts and Humanities Month October 2020.
Recommendation: Background: At the May 15, 2019 PAC meeting Chair Donahue
suggested PAC explore ways to collaborate with other Boards,
Commissions, or Committees in organizing or sponsoring event.
Hear an update from Committee members and form a Subcommittee to
discuss further if necessary.
5.6 Art for Younger Children.
Recommendation: Background: At the May 15, 2019 PAC meeting Committee member
Roy requested to discuss ways to explore art and its language as used
for younger audiences. Committee member Roy suggested
collaborating with the Youth Advisory Committee if applicable.
Hear an update from Committee members and forma Subcommittee to
discuss further if necessary.

6. NEW BUSINESS
6.1 Peninsula Youth Theatre Annual Review.
Recommendation: Background: As part of Peninsula Youth Theatre's (PYT) long term
Home Company contract, Staff will present a summary of performance
use days, sales and expenses, and open up discussion for
opportunities to improve service and/or relations. PYT will provide a
report on and discuss their outreach activities for the past year.

The Committee may take action on any matter noticed herein in any manner deemed appropriate by the Committee. Their
consideration of the matters noticed herein is not limited by the recommendations indicated herein.
SPECIAL NOTICE: Any writings or documents provided to a majority of the Performing Arts Committee regarding any item
on this agenda will be made available for public inspection in the Center for the Performing Arts office, located at 500
Castro Street, during normal business hours and at the meeting location noted on the agenda during the meeting.
ADDRESSING THE COMMITTEE
Interested persons are entitled to speak on any item on the agenda and should make their interest known to the Chair.
Anyone wishing to address the Committee on a nonagenda item may do so during the “Oral Communications” part of the
agenda. Speakers are allowed to speak one time on any number of topics for up to three minutes.
Anyone requiring interpretation services will be afforded twice the allotted speaking time allowed for each specific item.
