Chair Donahue called the meeting to order at 6:15 p.m.

MOTION M/S Donahue/Brewster - To: approve the minutes of the October 20, 2021
meeting with the minor edit to change the spelling of "shudder" to "shutter".

5.2 Mountain View Film Festival 2022
MOTION M/S Donahue/Kumar - To: approve the booking estimate for the Mountain View
Film Festival for 2022 on the premise of removing the rehearsal day and working with the
Operations Manager to reduce the labor fees.
The motion carried by the following vote:

6. NEW BUSINESS
6.1 Upstage Theater Annual Review
This item was taken out of agenda order.

7. COMMITTEE/STAFF ANNOUNCEMENTS, UPDATES, REQUESTS AND COMMITTEE REPORTS
Staff announced it would be Committee member Brewster's last meeting as she is
resigning to pursue her education.
Staff also announced it was Executive Director's W. Scott Whisler's last meeting as he is
retiring after 26 years of service with the City of Mountain View.
The PAC thanked each of them for their time, dedication, and the excellent work they
have done for the Performing Arts Committee.

At 7:59 p.m., Chair Donahue adjourned the meeting to the next Performing Arts

This meeting will be conducted in accordance with City of Mountain View City Council Resolution
No. 18613 in accordance with Assembly Bill 361.
All members of the Performing Arts Committee will participate in the meeting by video
conference, with no physical meeting location.

3.1 Approval of Minutes
Recommendation: The Performing Arts Committee (PAC) approve the minutes of the
October 20, 2021 meeting.

4. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS FROM THE PUBLIC
This portion of the meeting is reserved for persons wishing to address the Committee on
any matter not on the agenda. Speakers are limited to three minutes. State law prohibits
the Committee from acting on non-agenda items.
5. UNFINISHED BUSINESS
5.1 Poet Laureate
Recommendation: Background: At the August 18, 2021 meeting, a Subcommittee was
formed to investigate the feasibility and criteria needed to create a
Poet Laureate program for the City of Mountain View.
Hear an update from the Subcommittee.
5.2 Mountain View Film Festival 2022
Recommendation: Background: In April of 2021 PAC hosted its first online film festival.
The Subcommittee is in the process of planning another film festival for
2022.
Hear an update from the Subcommittee on the next steps and progress
in creating a timeline and task list.
5.3 Home Company Search
Recommendation: Background: For several meetings, the PAC has discussed possible
changes to the Home Company Program, including possibilities for a
new Home Company Search.
Hear an update from the Performing Arts Center's Executive Director
regarding the next steps.

6. NEW BUSINESS
6.1 Upstage Theater Annual Review
Recommendation: Background: As part of Upstage Theater long-term SecondStage
Home Company contract, staff would typically present a summary of
performance use days, sales, and expenses. However, due to the
ongoing pandemic and the closure of the Performing Arts Center this
year, Upstage Theater will provide a report on all outreach activities for
the past year.

REPORTS
No action will be taken on questions raised by the Committee at this time.

8. ADJOURNMENT
The next Performing Arts Committee meeting will be held on Wednesday, January 19,
2021 at 6:15 p.m. either in the Atrium Conference Room, 500 Castro Street, or remotely
via video conference. The agenda will be posted on Friday, January 14, 2021. Please
consult the agenda for more details.

The Committee may take action on any matter noticed herein in any manner deemed appropriate by the Committee. Their
consideration of the matters noticed herein is not limited by the recommendations indicated herein.
SPECIAL NOTICE: Any writings or documents provided to a majority of the Performing Arts Committee regarding any item
on this agenda will be made available for public inspection in the Center for the Performing Arts office, located at 500
Castro Street, during normal business hours and at the meeting location noted on the agenda during the meeting.
ADDRESSING THE COMMITTEE
Interested persons are entitled to speak on any item on the agenda and should make their interest known to the Chair.
Anyone wishing to address the Committee on a nonagenda item may do so during the “Oral Communications” part of the
agenda. Speakers are allowed to speak one time on any number of topics for up to three minutes.
Anyone requiring interpretation services will be afforded twice the allotted speaking time allowed for each specific item.
