MINUTES BOARD OF MAYOR AND BURGESSES SPECIAL MEETING SET THE MILL RATE – FISCAL YEAR 2010-2011 MAY 17, 2010 1. Mayor Robert Mezzo called the Special Meeting to order at 5:18 p.m. with the following in attendance: BURGESSES: RESIDENTS: One T. K. Rossi H. Kuczenski R. Burns R. Neth PRESS: None A. Campbell P. Scully M. Ciacciarella R. Woodfield, absent DEPARTMENT HEADS: M. V. Fragoso W. McAllister, Controller 2. Mayor Mezzo led in the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag. 3. Motion by Deputy Mayor Rossi and seconded by Burgess Neth t that the tax rate for the fiscal year July 1, 2010 through June 30, 2011 on the Borough of Naugatuck Grand List of October 1, 2009 as amended by the Board of Assessment Appeals be and hereby is laid at 32.02 Mills on the Dollar, due and payable 50% July 1, 2010, 50% January 1, 2011 on real estate and personal property tax and that all motor vehicle taxes shall be due and payable July 1, 2010. All real estate and personal property tax bills $100.00 or less will be due and payable July 1, 2010. ROLL CALL VOTE: FOR: OPPOSED: ABSTAIN Mayor R. Mezzo H. Kuczenski A. Campbell None T. K. Rossi R. Neth M. Ciacciarella R. Burns P. Scully M. V. Fragoso Motion carried 7-2-0 For the record: M. V. Fragoso: “I am voting yes, but for the record, I am voting yes even though I voted against the budget because the majority voted for the budget. Therefore, I am in favor of setting the mill rate.” M. Ciacciarella: “I was opposed to the mill rate increase because I had suggested a few cuts that could have lowered the mill rate increase. I felt that we could have done a little more to further reduce the effects on taxpayers.” 4. VOTED: Unanimously on a motion by Deputy Mayor Rossi and seconded by Burgess Scully to adjourn the meeting at 5:21 p.m. A tape recording of this meeting is available in the office of the Borough Clerk for further review.
