MINUTES BOARD OF MAYOR AND BURGESSES SPECIAL MEETING SET THE MILL RATE – FISCAL YEAR 2016-2017 MAY 5, 2016 1. Mayor N. Warren “Pete” Hess called the special meeting to order at 9:48 p.m. with the following in attendance: BURGESSES: PRESS: R. Neth L. Jackson L. Marshall R. Burns P. Scully, Sr. P. Singley K. Donovan R. Vitale C. Herb D. Wisniewski, absent D. Hoff DEPARTMENT HEADS: RESIDENTS: R. Butler, Controller None OTHERS: A. Bottinick, Board of Finance S. Stirk, Board of Finance J. Savarese, Board of Finance D. Scinto, Board of Finance A. Pistarelli, Board of Finance K. Kiernan, Board of Finance D. Sheridan, Jr., Board of Finance 2. Motion by Deputy Mayor Neth and seconded by Burgess Scully that the tax rate for the fiscal year July 1, 2016 through June 30, 2017 on the Borough of Naugatuck Grand List of October 1, 2015, as amended by the Board of Assessment Appeals, be and hereby is laid at 49.74 Mills on the Dollar, due and payable 50% July 1, 2016, 50% January 1, 2017 on real estate tax and personal property tax. All real estate and personal property tax bills $100.00 or less will be due and payable July 1, 2016. Motor vehicle taxes over $300.00 will be due and payable 50% July 1, 2016, 50% January 1, 2017. All motor vehicle tax bills $300.00 or less will be due and payable July 1, 2016. C. Herb opposed. For the record: Mayor Hess: “All ten of us are hopeful to realize a significant reduction by getting some extra revenue in the near future.” 3. VOTED: Unanimously on a motion by Burgess Scully and seconded by Burgess Herb to adjourn the special meeting at 9:50 p.m. A digital recording of this meeting is not available in the office of the Borough Clerk for further review.
