17. Chief of Police Christopher Edson gave a brief presentation on the Traffic Study Report,
NVCIT Case Number 2017-15, Field Street/Jones Road, Naugatuck. They initially
wanted to install curbing with grass on an island to close the intersection. However, it will
make it difficult for truck traffic, especially for plows to navigate the intersection. He
recommends painting a striped center island instead of asphalt. A solar warning sign for
$1,800 can be installed coming down the hill on Field Street.
VOTED: Unanimously on a motion by Burgess Bronko and seconded by Burgess

Regular Meeting – November 8, 2017
32. Purchasing/Financial Analyst Robert W. Butler, Jr. discussed the No Cost Lighting
Upgrade as part of the Connecticut Lighting Incentive at the Naugatuck Event Center.
Eversource said there is a two year payback. The cost is $70,000 and their estimated
savings is $42,000 a year. The lighting upgrade will be to the parking lot, first floor and
the front part of the second floor. The expense for lighting at the event center last year was
$88,000. The cost to replace T-12 fluorescent bulbs is $9 to $12 a foot. It will get harder to
find replacement bulbs. It costs money to get rid of fluorescent bulbs because of the
mercury content.
