MINUTES SPECIAL MEETING BOARD OF MAYOR AND BURGESSES JUNE 26, 2018 1. Mayor “Pete” Hess called the special meeting to order at 6:01 p.m. with the following in attendance: BURGESSES: PRESS: L. Taf Jackson, absent D. Hoff L. Marshall M. Bronko R. Neth R. Burns R. Vitale RESIDENTS: J. DeOliveira D. Wisniewski , absent None C. Herb OTHERS: DEPARTMENT HEADS: K. Zak, Environmental Liaison J. Lawlor, HR Director 2. Burgess Burns led in the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag. 3. VOTED: Unanimously on a motion by Burgess Neth and seconded by Burgess Hoff that the Board of Mayor and Burgesses approve the appointment of Gino Andreozzi (R), 6 Pinewood Crossing South, Naugatuck, CT 06770 as an alternate member of the Board of Finance, filling the unexpired term of A. Olbrys, term to expire June 1, 2019. 4. Motion by Burgess Neth and seconded by Burgess Hoff that the Board of Mayor and Burgesses approve the appointment of Rui C. Costa, Jr. (U), 22 Sierra Ridge Road, Naugatuck, CT 06770 as an alternate member of the Inland Wetlands Commission, filling the unexpired term of D. Simoes, term to expire January 1, 2019. Burgess Bronko and Burgess Hoff opposed. 5. VOTED: Unanimously on a motion by Burgess Neth and seconded by Burgess Bronko that the Board of Mayor and Burgesses approve the reappointment of Linda Anderson (R), 147 City Hill Street, Apt. 2, Naugatuck, CT 06770 as an alternate member of the Zoning Commission, term to expire July 1, 2022. 6. Mayor Hess reappointed Elizabeth Forlenzo, 365 Spring Street, Naugatuck, CT 06770 as a member of the Blight Citation Hearing Board, term to expire July 1, 2021. 7. VOTED: Unanimously on a motion by Burgess Neth and seconded by Burgess Hoff that the Board of Mayor and Burgesses approve a payment to the City of Waterbury in the amount of $5,000 to supplement the efforts to “Cleanup the Naugatuck River” as recommended by Environmental Liaison Kevin Zak. 8. Motion by Burgess Neth and seconded by Burgess Bronko that the Board of Mayor and Burgesses recess to Executive Session at 6:17 p.m. for discussion on the following: -2- Minutes – Board of Mayor and Burgesses Special Meeting – June 26, 2018 Personnel (Chief of Police – Employment Contract), Collective Bargaining (Firefighters Union – Local 1219 IAFF, Police Union – Local 1126 AFSCME Council 15) and Pending Litigation inviting in Human Resources Director John Lawlor. Motion amended. VOTED: Unanimously on a motion by Burgess Neth and seconded by Burgess Bronko to recess to Executive Session at 6:17 p.m. for discussion on the following: Personnel (Chief of Police – Employment Contract), Collective Bargaining (Firefighters Union – Local 1219 IAFF, Police Union – Local 1126 AFSCME Council 15) and Pending Litigation inviting in Human Resources Director John Lawlor and Police Commission Chairwoman Stephanie Savoy. Mayor Hess reconvened the meeting at 7:30 p.m. 9. There were no motions emanating from Executive Session. 10. VOTED: Unanimously on a motion by Burgess Neth and seconded by Burgess Burns to adjourn the special meeting at 7:31 p.m. A digital recording of this meeting is available in the office of the Borough Clerk for further review.
