COMMISSION ON PUBLIC WORKS/UTILITIES COUNCIL ROOM MARCH 8, 2022 6:45 P.M. The Commission on Public Works/Utilities met in regular session, Chair Clough presiding. On roll call: all members present. The minutes of the previous meeting were declared approved. Director of Public Works Friemoth reported on one burial at the Cemetery, organizing the new Cemetery shop, equipment maintenance, working on partition for Police Department, patching potholes, cleaning up corners and opening catch basins, snow removal, hauling brush, burning brush, Water Department-daily testing and maintenance, utility locates, meter reading in progress, Sewer Department-lift station maintenance and rounds, changing oil in trucks, cleaned clarifier and scum trough, raw pump maintenance and cleaning, scheduling maintenance on gearsets. Director of Public Works Friemoth opened and read the American Asphalt of Wisconsin, Mosinee asphalt bid. $ 97.00 per ton for full width road paving $ 94.05 per ton for second lift full width road paving $ 156.50 per ton for patch paving $ 3.00 per ton discount for work done when the asphalt plant is in the Neillsville area August through October Director of Public Works Friemoth stated that the bid is based on an estimated use of 1,000 tons for City use only. Motion Murphy, second Neville, to recommend to the Common Council to accept the American Asphalt of Wisconsin, Mosinee asphalt bid in the amount of $97.00 per ton full width road paving, $94.05 per ton for second lift full width road paving, $156.50 per ton for patch paving with a $3.00 per ton discount for work done when the asphalt plant is in the Neillsville area. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. The minutes of the previous meeting were declared approved. Council Member Clough reported on the March 8, 2022 meeting of the Commission on Public Works/Utilities regarding: 1) current activities and 2) the recommendation to accept the American Asphalt of Wisconsin, Mosinee asphalt bid in the amount of $97.00 per ton full width road paving, $94.05 per ton for second lift full width road paving, $156.50 per ton for patch paving with a $3.00 per ton discount for work done when the asphalt plant is in the Neillsville area. Mayor Murphy declared all reported filed as presented with the City Clerk. Mayor Murphy asked if there were any questions on the Commission on Public Works/Utilities item (2). Fire Chief Matt Meyer reported that he, Second Assistant Fire Chief Bill Poeschel and Fireman Justin Poeschel met with a representative from Rosenbauer, South Dakota to go over what we have, what we need and what we would like. They will be working up an estimate. They do no require a payment until completion; however, we could save 4% on the chassis if paid for when gotten. Fire Chief Meyer stated he would be going to the State Fire Conference this Friday and Saturday in Green Bay to get more information and ideas. We have to look long range as this truck will serve for the next forty years. Council Member Clough reminded everyone of the Open Houses and Ribbon Cuttings at the New City Hall and expanded Police Station locations on Sunday, March 13, 2022 from 1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. Hotel/Motel Room Tax Permit Applications: Priceline.com LLC, Charles Bowling, Agent, City-wide Motion Clough, second Neville, to grant. All Aye. Tavern Operator’s License Applications: Melanie S. Ganje second Operator’s License Application Mayor Murphy read Chief of Police Mankowski’s letter regarding the second license application from Melanie S. Ganje. Mankowski’s position has not changed since January, and he does not recommend issuing Ganje an operator’s license. Discussion followed. There is no employment location listed on the application. Motion Counsell, second Clough, to deny the license. On roll call: Council Member Counsell-Aye, Council Member Clough-Aye, Council Member Harnisch-Nay, Council Member Neville-Aye, Council Member Perrine-Nay. 3-Aye, 2-Nay. Motion carried.
